I would like to help me to make a nice and competitive list for games... I am planning to make a SW army, more on a successor Chapter though with the same attributes, and I need to know what to buy more because if I go to the shop i will buy everything but the ones I need of...
So here is a rough list from my memory in what I have:
10 Tactical Marines
10 Grey Hunters
3 or 4 Terminators
3 Blood Claws Bikers
1 Land Raider Crusader
12 Assault Marines
8 or 9 Wolf Guards
5 Scouts (ML and HB's)
4 SM with Missile Launchers
1 SM with Lascannon
1 box of Devastators (unassembled)
A Wolf Lord is in the production phase
Bits to make some more Blood Claws or Grey Hunters but I can say exactly how many...
These, I think, are all... so can anything good be done with all these? Or what can I buy and what is a good list for 750pts for starters!
Thank you in advance and if it is in the wrong side of the Forum feel free to move it...
Thanks to all the people showing faith in me
I sometimes feel that everyone will leave me and they will be on their own...
Looks good for a start to me...after this point the only way to tell if you need anything else is to play some opponents and get a feel for what you're missing.

Avid SW player here and I can give you some tips from me experience.
Dreadnoughts: 3 Is great, use one as the SW Venerable. And anotehr as your "SM codex pick' Venerable. Personally I wouldn't bother giving any of them anti tank power, gof or Lots of friepower and CC ability. Firepower is somethignt he wolves can have a problem bringing sometimes.
Save your money and don't buy these. I'lls hare how I handle mobility later. All these will do is get blown up, early in the game, and the turn your wolves can't move is DEVESTATING as the army, and each unit needs to stay florid and Dynamic to prevail.
Instead of getting the Tac Squad, get 2 Space wolf Wolf Guard Boxes. Your gonna need the extra power bits. Plus you get everything int hat box you do int he other except the missile launchers.
Terminators, I assume for Wolfguard? IF your going ot, amke them a bodyguard for someone and drop pod them. I don't use wolfguard myself, so I can't attest to it, but I have seen some WICKED unkillable SW termies. For me, they just eat up too many points. But htat's just a preferance call, not a logistics one.
3 BLood Claw Bikers: MORE! MORE! MORE! lol you want ALOT of these guys, I use two squads myself. You get the Turbo Boosting 3+ Invulnerable, twin linked fire which makes upf or the BLoodclaws lower BS, and the +2 ATTACKS on charge makes sure that power fist you have int here will smack somebody silly. THESE guys are what I use for anti tank. Slap one of them with a plasma pistol or melta gun and go for side or rear armor and your good. TRUST Me you'll love these guys. ESPECIALLY....
Wold lord: PUT HIM ON A BIKE! Zoom hima orund in rune armor with the wolf helm of russ for 2+Inv and 4+Inv goodness. PLUS You can get that master crafted stormblade in there for osme nasty s5 power attacks where you need him most.
WolfGuard: Cheaper to make your own out of SW and COmmand Squad/Assault squad boxes.
Scouts: Their scouts are Different that other scouts and can't use those weapons. YOUr gonna want ot itt hem outt o where they can pop a big, pricey objective and then try and fightt heir way out, or at least fight off the assaults long enough to buy you more time.
You only need 4 HEavy Weapons MArines unless you intend to have more than one longfangs squad, which I say you shouldn't. Alot of points, and whent he first one dies you either lose a 50+ Point model, or their ability ot fire on two objectives at once. A mix is good here, HB or PC for crowd control and Missiles or a Lascannon or two for Instankills, high thoughness or heavy Armour. Remember, as long as they live, you can shoot 2 units witht hem at once.
Land Raider Crusader, if you l ike it,b uy it. But I think you'll like more SW Infantry or bikes better.
Ok, for 750 Pts? THis is what i used for my hobby store's 750 PT Army, only lost once to orks. And that was just bad generaling on my part, and VERY unorky play/cowardice on his lol.
Yuo'll need 2 HQ's first:
Wolf Lord/Battle Leader on Bike:
Gives you Mobility and a unit that will not likely lose an assault if your careful what/where you hit. Give him a Fenrisian wolf for that extra attack n' wound :-D
Can't beat it in 750 Points. Decent armor, and with an Assault Cannon/Dread P.Fist he's a terror in both phases, and being SW veneralbe h is WS and BS are both 5, so he only needs 2+ to hit on his assault cannon. Adn can reroll damage tables, as wella s whog ets first turn. IS WAY worth it.
2 Squads of 6-7 Grey hunters w/Pfists,PWeps, Plasma Pistol.
Gives y ou heavy infantry killing ability, as wella s giving htem bolters which lets them double duty. BUT Give your Pwep and Pfist guys the Plasma pistol or a BOlt pistol so they get the extra attack for charging. The BOlter armed guys don't get it.
11 Man Unit of BLood Claws:
3 Power fists oor 2 Pist one Pwep, rest just BPs and CCW's. THis unit tosses and amazing 44 Attacks on the charge, immeadiatly following a shot fromt heir pistols, so 55 Attacks tihin 6 inchs total. And they take alot of fire.
What you have htere is a force that'll get yous tarted, and cover all your bases as wella s being pretty cheap (I believe the battlebox covers almost all of it, toehr than the dread) And quick to paint.
Hope this helped!
How do you figure that you are allowed to take both the Space Wolf Venerable Dreadnought and second Venerable Dreadnought from Codex Space Marines. In Codex Space Marines under the dreadnought entry states that you can only include one venerable dreadnought in an army (or something to that effect) the Space Wolf Dreadnought is still a dreadnought and it is venerable so it still fits this requirement. Or am I missing something.
I agree with the 11 man blood claw unit; however, I defiantly would not put any plasma pistols on them since they only have a BS3, it is a waste of points, just go with the 3 power weapons.
Primary Army: Tyranids; Secondary Army: Space Wolves
It's Illeagle, but it' s not that illeagle. - John Public
It's an official ruling Ig ot ruleboy wise for a tourney at my local gaming club. I invite you to investigate it yourself however as we, all of us are only too aware of the capriciousness of the ruleboyz.
The logic behind it is:
The SW Dread is different than the SM dread in statline and Rules.
And the SW codex says Under "Elites" tha tyou may use the Dreadnought from Codex Space Marines. There,s ince you've not used the 'normal' Venerable that you are allowed, you may then choose to use the option on a dreadnought you take as Space Wolves. Also worthy to note is that the Venerable is an HQ/Elite choice, SW ven is, where as the other is different and Rules/Statline making them NOT the same unit, I.E. Not subject to "One Venerable Dreadnought Per army" Rule, as one is a Space Wolf Ven. And one is a Regular SM Ven Dread, :-D And yoru right about the Plasma pistols lol, I just forgot after i made the models I gave the BP's on paper
