Imperial Armour (forgeworld) Armoured Company Vs Normal Armoured Company

I currently use the normal armoured company list which is quite expensive but can have some quite nice doctrines and I'm considering using the Imperial Armour list instead because things like the command tank are a lot cheaper.

Has anyone got much experience with both lists and compared them at all?;?

While I have not actually used either list, I have looked over both of them fairly extensively, and they are fairly interchangeable IF you are using only “basic” tanks. However, if you want to use a large number of supporting infantry (in the form of Armoured Fist squads) and/or some of the more exotic vehicles from Imperial Armour, then the Forge World list is probably the better one. If, on the other hand, you want to use basic tanks with additional skills (doctrines) then the Armored Company list is the only choice. Basically it’s a matter of what you want to do, but I have to say, that if your first criterion is to try to save a few points, then any form of all tank army is probably not the best choice for you in the first place.

    leglity issues.

In my home town the AC list is tourney legal, but he forgeworld one is not. That decides it for me.

I have a 1700 pt AC list posted in the army lists section. Let me know what you think of it and how it would stack up against
a forgeworld list for the same points...

Also Ace Gunners are totally awesome! 8Y

in most cases AC are not tourney legal, but nor are armoured battle groups (FW rules)
Everything you have been told is a lie!

    only in the USA

To my knowledge only the U.S. banned the chapter approved AC company. It is still legal in Canada and Britian.

Arg, my local independant store where I do all my gaming and tournaments allows the AC list but not the FW list. So I'll be sticking with the AC list.

Maybe GW should bring out "Codex Imperial Armoured Company" and stop everyone argueing.

If you want universally legal then use something like:
    HQ
    -Filler
    TROOPS
    -Grenadiers with Chimeras
    FAST
    -Hellhound
    -Sentinels
    HEAVY
    -2 Leman Russ
    -1 Leman Russ Demolisher
    Just an idea.

Armoured Company is not legal in Canada. It is opponenets consent in friendly games only.

I used to run the chapter approved list. It did ok. I never took it to the league tournaments. I have no objection to playing against it.
I know for sure that for 2006/07 and 2007/08 season there was no AC List. back in september at Onslaught Edmonton I met a gentleman who brought armoured company. He had no idea it was not legal and the organizers didn't stop him from playing. I didn't mind. I didn't face him. If I did, i was more than ready to handle his list.
