Ok so I am very tempted to get a librarian because of
A) the psychic hood since I play Eldar with those warlocks and farseers
the force weapon since it can kill an Avatar in 1 turn...is that true?
C) the sheer coolness factor

I play white consulates and I wonder if I can take Tigerius, I have no idea since he's an ultramarine special character. But with the equiptment he has the points are very worth it.

Please explain the force weapon to me, if I hit an enemy and make a succesful psycher test he dies no matter how many wounds he has????

Can the psychic hood be used if my librarian is anywhere on the battle field or does he have to be near the opponents psycher?

Thanks

I don't remember how the hood works but from the top of my head the force weapon hits and wounds. If you liek make the test and you kill it out right.

So force weapon hits and wounds like normal, but if you pass the test (just once or separate tests for separate wounds) its an instant kill?

not a normal weapon, a power weapon, and yes if you pass a leadership test you can insta-kill any opponent invulnerable saves or not.
What doesn't kill you, cripples you for life

Whoever invented the Rubix Cube had a sick and twisted sense of humor

I will not eat oysters, i want my food dead, not sick, not wounded, dead.

Once again, do i just have to pass one test, then everyone who was wounded has insta death?

And can I take Tigerius? Cause I want to know whether to buy him or just a regular librarian.

Ok ... you use the force weapon just like an ordinary power weapon, and when you manage to actually wound an enemy, than you can try to instakill him by making your psytest, but first you have to regulary wound him and he must fail his save. Oyu get only one try per turn, eben if you wound him two times or two different enemies, only one instakill try per turn. Actually I think energyhammers are better suited to deal with big nasties. They are not that expensive, when you wound the enemy he can´t act (at least under the old rules) and its even usefull against vehicles.

As about Tigerius, he is an Ultramarines special character, so only ultramarines can field him. However, just talk to your opponent if he allows you to field him as a special charakter from your chapter with the same rules, it wouldn´t change a bit, sincen ultra marines and your chapter are vanille marines. Just think about some fluff and a new name for him and your opponent shouldn´t havem uch to complain.

Its about time I got a straight answer, in that case an ordinary librarian sounds more suitable for me, its not the end of the world.

So what do people think about the librarian, with the hood and force weapon they are a bit expensive, is a fully loaded librarian better than a chaplain or a force commander or are they basically the same? Just a thoght. I like increasing my killing power though, between snipers, devatator squads and now a librarian, avatar; oyu better watch out.

The librarian is a funny thing and quite a can opener, he can ripp trough tau siutes and terminator armour alike, sometimes quite usefull. The psychic hood is only worth, aparently, when the enemy uses psykers, but then it can be worth its wight in gold (or adamantium).
As I said befor, I don´t like the force weapons, hammers just apeal more to me. Or a pair of lightning claws, since he won´t should much with a bolter or plasmapistole, for this he has his nice smite power.

The chaplain is a very good and cheap character ... he comes with a powerweapon and invul save and gets a discount on them, so he is much cheaper then a hero whom you give the same stuff, really good commander for small forces. A force commander on the other hand can be tooled up as you wish and need him, but he will never be the combat monster like chaoslords, but with the right equipment they can really wreak some havoc.

To kill those tough models out there, wrathlord, c'tan and the like, the best thing in your arsenal is the sniper rifle, since it ignors those high toughnes and allways wounds on 4+.
a very felxibla devastor squad are four missile launchers, since they can be used as anti infantry and anti tank weapons. Allways good when you can´t efford to use two devastor squads for different roles oon the battle field.

A force weapon works like this:
Hit, wound, and save as normal (power weapon). Then, provided that you inflicted at least 1 wound, you make 1 psychic test. If passed, 1 enemy modle is insta-killed, end of story.

A Psychic Hood has a range of the entire battlefield, so it works on any and all powers that require a psychic test (and up to 1 Warlock power per turn)

I love Librarians personally, they're just too useful to pass up sometimes, especially against Eldar.

alright then, well I have 2 scout units with sniper rifles and a heavy bolter or a missle launcher so that is pretty much my wraithlord and avatar killers, except not allowed to target the avatar unless he is the closest and only target in range.

I have a 10 man devi squad with 4 missles which basically strike fear to everyone but I am leaning on having another squad of missles and heavy bolters.

The librarian sounds like what I need, the in your face guy that will bust things up. Accompanied by a small veteran squad they should dish out quite a few blows even though I will have them running up the field behind a tactical squad.

The hood and force weapon are perfect against eldar, awesome.
