I curious what armies out there tend to beat SM.
And for those of you who never lose which army at least tends to hold you to a solid victory instead of getting massacred.
I tend to lose to Eldar and Tau armies more than anything else. As a player I have a hard time dealing with forces that don't like to directly engage and prefer to keep me at arm's length. I'm yet to develop enough as a general to find a way of consistantly getting around such problems.
Overall though, Space Marine armies are capable of losing to any army. It all comes down to the usual things - army lists, player skill, deployment and luck.
It depends on how you use your army and how your opponents use theirs. I generally play an infantry based army, so any army fielding alot of anit-infantry weapons, like scatter lasers, will do some serious damage.
Hey! Look at the little.... Oh ****!
necrons, tau, mech eldar, nidzilla, genestealer orgy and close combat grots.
Create flames for a galaxy and it will be warm. Put a galaxy in flames and it will be warm for the rest of it's existence.
Chaos tends be my toughest opponent.
Primary Army: Tyranids; Secondary Army: Space Wolves

For my Blood Angels, Mech Eldar and Mech Tau tend to be my worst match ups (although the Eldar a bit moreso than the Tau - I expect to lose to the Eldar, with the Tau it usually winds up being a bit closer). In larger points games (2k+) I have a big problem with Necron Phalanxes as well when they are fielding 3 monoliths.
Mech Tau and Chaos tend to be very bad for me, but surprisingly Eldar usually lose to me.
Unless I tool my army up specifically to beat them, genestealer armies eat me for lunch! It is crazy how badly they thrash even my best CC units. On the other hand, the other day I wanted to use my 3 new razorback models ( with HB's) and I made a very shooty list and massacred the genestealer heavy army I was facing.
Once a Marine, always a Marine.
Eldar, always eldar.
So many bright lances.
Tau are a pain - the only answer to pansy Crisis suits is whirlwinds and an assault squad.
Mech Eldar or even worse Mech Wraith Eldar are also generally an uphill struggle
