Dumb question I suppose since no one is likely to know, unless they have a hot line to GWHQ, but I wonder with GW releasing plastics if at some point they might release DKOK FW stuff in plastics. As it is £30+ for one squad must be out of reach for the bulk of players.
all i know right now it that there is a rumor that when the new codex is released that new plastic models with great coats will b released with it. I doubt it though because cadians are doing fine though they might replace catachans. i think the date for the new codex was early 2009 or late 2008.
The most dangerous men in the world are the ones who have nothing to lose.
It sure would be sweet if they released some ogryns that are made in plastic.
Not many players use orgyrns or ratlings. I hope they never have a codex update. It's fien the way it is, and we don't need Jervis to mess it up for us.;o
I would welcome a new codex update as long as we keep our doctrines. 8Y I really dont see where guard need a bump or a nerf really, although alot of people cry about Close Order Drill to me and say that I should have to pay for it but what ever haha I'll be excited for all the attention and new models hopefully! Rough Riders please?!
Although there have been rumors about plastic models I dont see it happeneing anytime soon. However one rumor that I do believe will come true is the plastic upgrade package the good people at GW have been talking about. The word on the streets or at least down at my local hobby store is that this new box will include plastic heads and other details that can make your troops from the Cadian box into wither Vallhalians or Death Korp. Again will it happen, we can only speculate.
Whilst having plastic models brought out would enable me to make my Krieg army much bigger, I don't want them to bring any out - it would be like Cadians now - they'd be everywhere, I imagine most new guard players would go for them.
I don't care too much if they bring out a new codex, I like it perfectly fine the way it is.
I say we still have a year or 2 before our experience ecomes obsolete. They still have to do necrons, inquisition, dark eldar, and some warhammer and lord of the rings (emperor be praised) before they move on to Imperial Guard.
I think the IG Codex is good as it is, I haven't seen the earlier codexes. other than Catachans, so that's just my impression. It holds up well, as an Eldar and Dark Eldar player I can say IG are hard to beat and it's not just numbers and guns that win games for IG, they do have a strategy as well, unless your lazy and just go for line em up and fire.
The Cadian sets are versatile, you can mix parts with the HW sprues or add Catachan heads to give them a more dynamic pose. I've done a couple of squads and added a few skulls as well using the 13th Mordant as inspiration, my boys look like veteran combat troops, to long in the field against the rurinous powers, not greens. Forge World make some good upgrades, I have an armoured fist squad decked out in respirators and back packs.
I think the DKOK might be too lucrative for FW to let plastic kits come out, after all those who really want to play DKOK will pay the money, GW isn't a cheap hobby anyway were essentially grown men paying hard cash to bugger about with bits of plastic, toy soldiers with more elaborate rules, that's the bottom line. In for a penny in for a pound as they say.
