Is the LRC a good choice for tough troops like Necrons and Chaos SMs? I know it's very good against horde armies, but what about more elite forces. Can the bolters get enough kills? Or is the LR a better choice? Taking into account the TVRs and what that means for the heavy bolters on the LR. Or is multiple chims better with HBs, even with the lower BS?
Against CSM or Necrons, I would say Chimera's, because they have good anti-infantry guns.
LRC are good against those sort for a very simple reason: 8 GK termis inside!!! nuff said.
It depends what kind of strategies you are using the lr for. If you are using it for transport for termies then go with the crusader, but for anti-tank skills (which grey knights lack so much) then go for the standard fit. I would personally go for the standard one.
what's the point of a LRC since you can now fire the HBs on a standard version when moved? I know it can carry 8 terms, but other than that is there a reason to field it?
um, the absurd amount of fire it can put out

Rules for grenades are on page 72 of the rulebook.
under trial vehicle rules i dont' think if a normal vehicle (ie a landraider) moves 12 inches it can fire any weapons, even defensive.

If the LR and the LRC sit and don't move for arguments sake and hit 100%, the LRC can land 10 shots of mixed firepower, the LR can land 7 shots (including stormbolter). Saves against a standard marine are allowed on 9 of the LRC hits (only 1 auto kill). Only 5 saves (2 auto kills) are allowed on the LR hits. So even with good rolls the LRC can only kill a small number more than a LR, and the LR can kill tanks and troops.
I may have this wrong, just looking at the model weapons, no rules. It seems to me that the only reason for a LRC is the 8 possible terms. Make those hurricane pattern heavy bolters and you've gota deal.
