I'm just curious if anyone could point me in the right direction with regard to a Terminator Army. I know of "Deathwing", but understand the rules have changed with them? Are there other ways to form a Terminator, Dread. and Land Raider army? I'd be looking for 1500pts to start. I'm just not familiar with Space Marines and am not sure where to start. I would love a small elite force. I know this might not be the easiest thing, but am looking something fun.
Any links and such would be greatly appreciated!
The deathwing really is the only way forward for a force like this, you would need the DA codex, the rules are in there.
personaly i think there is nothing wrong with useng deathwing rules and painting them another colour (say Crimson Fists) and useing the force to represent their first company.
and if all else fails, go Apocalypse!
PROUD TO BE IN THE BRITISH ARMY.
~~ Surrender and serve me in life, or die and slave for me in death~~
Thanks for the reply. Know of a good place to find a FAQ about Deathwing Terminator armies? I think I'm a bit thick, because I can't seem to find anythig here lol. Sorry.
I second this - there is no reason at all why you cannot use these rules and paint up your terminators in the colours of another chapter. Would be a good way to represent a first company force IMO.
As for FAQ, I've not seen one personally, so there might not be one out. Check the Errata page on the GW website to see - if its not there then there likely isn't one released.
Good luck with the army dude
I actually just stumbled upon the "Red Scorpions" in Forge World. Their insignia looks fantastic and they have Termi shoulder pads! I also like the colors that were chosen.
Thanks for clarifying that I don't have to use just Dark Angels. Other than the Dark Angel Codex, would I need the Space Marine Codex as well? I thought I remember reading some place that Space Marine armies can have all Terminators now too? or am I confused? lol
Nope, nothing else required - the DA codex is a standalone codex... Just add the rulebook, dice and an army. (checking for a FAQ is definitely a good idea, too.)
So far as I know, the DA are the only Marines that get rules for an all-termie force. The rest of us just have to borrow theirs.
Do me a favour though?? Find a way of building this army that doesn't revolve around 50 assault cannons, OK? I know they're great guns, and you're definitely going to field several, but marines already get harassed about using dozens of the blasted things as a crutch... There are other weapons in the arsenal, help me believe there's still some tactical flexibility left among marine commanders by using them? Please??
****The preceding message was brought to you by Marine Generals Against Assault Cannon Spamming. Please, use your assault cannons responsibly.****
Call me crazy, but I was thinking something like 1 squad of CC Termis w/ Leader (need the codex...no clue who this would be lol), 2 Ranged, Land Raider and two Dreads w/ Lascannons. So only a few Assault Cannons.
Been doing a little research, but have yet to locate a FAQ.
Thanks again for the replies!
By the DA codex, and feel free to paint them how ever you wish. Just tell people when you play that you are using the DA codex, incase they don't recognize the army on looks. Get thos red scorpian shoulderpads, they are sharp!
At 1500 points you can basically fit one of these cofigurations
A) Belial(required) 4 termi units(x3 AC, x1 CML) 3 dreadnaughts with missle launchers. You can leave the assault cannon, but I find the plasmacannon works WAY better vs all targets, and it's free. You also don't get yelled at for taking 20 assault cannons Drop one of the termi units down to a CML for two total, and you can upgrade one of the dreadnaughts to a TLLC version, for some hard hitting anti tank.
Belial(required) 5 termi units and 1 dreadnaught. Depending on what heavy weapon choice the termi units take, the dread could have upgrades like TLLC(recommended if only dread) and venerable.
Play with the points I'm sure you can fit in the 4 termi units, with only two dreads that are both venerable, and one with TLLC and ML, the other with ML and plasmacannon.
Age is a state of mind, and since I have no mind, I don't age.

What about the Lysanderwing? Again, no rule says you couldn't scratchbuild a commander that "counts as" Lysander, then fill up your elite and HQ slots. Two sniper scout squads, and you're good to go!
But to read about Lysander, you need the codex. For any army, really, you need the codex.
