Any suggestions on how to defeat marines at 500pts.

107th Regiment, 5th Armored Battle Group- 5500ptsFor someone to deal as much damage as you did, the Emperor must surely be at your side. - MaxDv
You should still be outnumbering C/SMs even at this level. While you won't be able to bring your big anti-MEQ guns, you'll be bringing a whole bunch of less powerful guns for which to swamp them. Plus, a small squad of Vets or Stormies with some plasma might be a good investment if you've got the points for it. Blind 'em with your flashlights, then kick them in the groin if they get too close.
I think you need to spend more time on your floor.

well if you are playing on a 4x4 board i would bring a demolisher or a leman russ (maybe 2) I find this is the best way to deal with meqs. Just bring 2 squads of 5 man grenadiers and a junior officer. i doubt they will be able to deal with 2 big tanks like that. Just keep the grenadiers and junior guarding the sides/rear of the tanks.
If you wil be playing on a larger 6x4 board then i would take 2 bassilisks with grenadiers to make your troops cheap. It will be nearly impossible for your opponet to get through the plasma after being shelled like that.

Since when can you use Lemans at 500pts? aint this combat patrol?
As stated, Grenadier doctrine with a couple of Leman Russes, and perhaps a smattering of plasma is a very powerful 500pt set up. They'll have very little that can take out those tanks, so you can move around in relative safety. Use them to cover your small grenadier squads so they don't get shot.
If Grenadier squads isn't your thing, you're not going to be able to take too many anti-MEQ guns. After basic HQ and Troops selection, you're probably looking at taking a basilisk only? Or perhaps some heavy bolters just to dish out a high number of good strength shots.
You can take:
2x Grenediers (5 men, 2x plasma guns)
2 x basiliks (w/o indirect fire)
Your HQ can make up the difference. (I think you can put extra plasma or something in it.)
You're going to hell for fielding a list like this, but it will work ;Y
For slightly less cheese than Stormtrooper/tank combinations, there's the option of a counter-charge unit: if your opponent plays Assault Marines or you can force him into advancing towards your gun line, an Armored Fist squad with a flamer can hide behind terrain or put out an amazing quantity of fire. When the SMs get too close, advance and light them up. Even power armor isn't much good against almost 20 lasgun shots and 8+ flamer hits, especially when you can finish the squad off with the rest of your infantry nearby.
Last time I played this, there was a very frustrated Black Templars player...
"HQ, my LOS is blocked by a soda bottle. I'm moving to unmask my guns."
"Negative! The soda bottle is the Carnifex!"
"Dang proxy models!"

One thing I have always found useful at 500 points, is a small 2 squad platoon, an independent commissar, and the good old butter ball of 50 conscripts. Fill it out with anything you have room for 9 tends not to be much. This tends to eat any elite based army for lunch at this level.
