I pretty much do it the same way the codex does, with the exception of the book on their shoulder, which I leave metal. I've always thought that painting it like a real book just looks hokey. One way to unify your army though is to use a single color and repeat it throughout. I picked red, mainly because it looks Inquisitorial, and so my Grey Knights are mainly boltgun-metal with red gore on certain sections to tie them together with my Storm Troopers and Seraphim, both of whom have some bits of red on them.

Of course, there's always MiketehFox, the OGK (yes, that's Orange Grey Knights) nut. He's got a picture of one of his knights as his avatar, so look him up for a more... extreme approach to a color scheme .

I paint mine in regular silver (various silvers that is). I start with boltgun metal, go to chainmail and mithril silver highlights. After I'm done the armor has a bit more pop. I also do gold elements in some of the armor. The only un-orthodox thing I do is use purple on shields instead of red.

    My scheme: http://img262.imageshack.us/img262/8383/pict0038zb9.jpg

But in general paint GKs how you like them. There is really no right way to do it (there are some wrong ways... pink GKs ftl). I've seen red GKs, silver ones, NMM ones, gold ones, white ones, black ones, blue ones, etc... and they all looked decent.

Below I linked some of the cooler GK schemes I've found:

I do the exact same thing...except that I color the coller of the armor either silver or gold depending on the squad they are going to be in. Once those two are done I might move to brass...just trying to keep them metalic.

I pretty much stuck with the scheme described in the Codex, except I picked up acrylic paint at a local craft store instead of Citadel paint...it cost about a quarter as much, and when you need at least two dozen colors, it adds up!

I personalized my army with recurring symbols on the shields, shoulderpads and tabards, more or less my avatar symbol, in white on blue or red on white. Works pretty well, especially for Terminators (with bigger shoulder shields) and Seraphim (who all have tabards), if you decide to take some.

Like the others, I go with the Codex. Knights in Shining Armour FTW!

By the way, nice mini pics Auracon. Your own looks sharp, too. 8Y

Thanks for putting up those links. I'm just sorting out a 2k list for Daemonhunters, and these pics will help nicely.

Well, i like the color black. Base: black, with red+gold trim. For some special modelsi think the best way is to mark the helmet and the sword. I haven't painted my army yet, but i intend to make them the BlackArmy .
GKGM: weapon: black+red runes ( looks like chaos, but i think it is just cool). Helmet: grey or white or gold. For the other rank, just change the colour of the sword. IMO :C

I personally use codex grey as my base color ( I like GREY Knights).

Very cool paint job, I like the non metallic paints look.

I personally have painted similar to the codex but starting with a darker boltgun mix...

Lighting is pretty bad to show up colours but you get the jist...
