Hey guys, I have a match this afternoon vs. Tau and Necron. I was wondering if I could get some clarification on a rule concerning tanks on a hill. The errata on 4th Core stats "real line of sight is
used, so being on a hill is still an advantage for a tank". It states if Im on a level 3 hill my tank isnt considered to be level 6 but "being on a hill is still an advantage for a tank"...why?
Basically Im wondering exactly how to use my tanks to the best effect. You would figure parking on a hill would help but I dont see why since my LoS is unaffected.
either go with true line of sight ie. if you can see oyu can shoot, kinda the dead groud realism approach. Or the rules I think mean that if you are on the level three terrain you can see over any level 3 or less terrain.
What we used to do before a battle was agree on each piece of terrianand its rules. basically we had hills as so big you couldnt see over them form anything even another hill, trees the same but buildings were sligthly different. Sometimes we went with hills counting as different heights same with the trees. but just talk to your opponent first basically. ie. if my tank is here what can I see?
hope that helps
and is in time!
Absolutely. It just didnt make much sense to me to even use hills as they have zero strategic use other than masking whats behind it (but any cover can do that).
