Hey guys quick question:
If I take Mechanized as a doctrine, do I still have to spend the 70+ pts for each Chimera?
Not sure if Im the only one thinking this but isnt that a bit steep for a rear access only, weak armored, transport? I mean give me a 40pt rhino imo. I need speed badly but 70 base Chimeras are a bit much for the help.
Chimeras are not just a transport, they are a light tank.
Remember that and use them like it. 70pts (+weapons) isnt bad for what you get.
And the answer to your question is yes.
The name refers to facial hair, not playing style.Originally Posted by A news vendor's stand, London, June 1940
The Chimera can pump out 9 heavy weapon shots a turn with a heavy stubber. Thats a bargain fire support unit when you take into acount that it is fast moving AND a transport.
It's worth a krak!
Yea I can definitely see it being used as a mobile gun platform. I believe its probably just my craptastic rolling ability that kills any chance of my vehicles surviving dmg. Im guessing the stubber and possibly smoke for extras?
mechanized armies are good if you dont have them too close to each other. A chimera as it has been stated before is a light tank and is very good at taking out light and heavy infantry. I would say it is a nice support tank for a platoon to have when things are getting too hot for just a simple squad to handle.
Whenever I've played with lots of chimeras (very rarely, I have 2 and had to borrow another two haha) I'll advance them behind something more intimidating like a Leman Russ - with that thing acting as a fire magnet, those 9 shots keep shooting for a long time - and if they choose to take out the Chimera, well thats equally good as the battlecannon stays firing.
