To all of you who are familiar with the Vostroyan First Born Models. Are they modeled with Carapace armor or can they pass for having only flack armor?
I've built a sizable army of them and its never been an issue saying that they are wearing flack armor, but I'm thinking of maybe taking them to a GT and wanted to know if it would be acceptable to say that they have flack armor on or do the models count as wearing carapace armor?
Thanks for any input!
As having painted aprox. 50 vostroyan models for my army the last few months, I can say I'm quite familaiar with those models
Vostroyans look more heavily armored then normal cadian models. Just take a look on their shoulders, elbows, wrists, boots & torso.
I would say, Vostroyans are a known army like Catachans and whatnot and therefore most people will think you play Vossies along with the 4+ carapace armor save. I wouldn't make that much of a fuss about them wearing flak armor instead, but it would strike me as really odd to have 2 identical models have different saves. For instance.. I field my Vostroyans and you field your own army with Vostroyan models. Either of us has a differnt save though there is not the slightest difference and that would pretty well be the paint a GT judge would be aiming at I guess.
Well, no where does it say that they have to have carapace armor, the armor plates could be pure decorations, made out of thin metals like bronze.
Got a "good" rumour from a GW staffer? Forget about it, LO'ers know more than any random GW shop staffer.

Well, look at Catachans, you routinely see ppl use them as vanilla guardsmen even though by all rights they should be jungle fighters. WYSIWYG doen't mean you have to use everything on a model, it simply means you can't use it if it isn't modeled. Another great example is track guards, I see alot of chimeras with track guards modelled that don't actually use them.

good call. Thanks so I'm pretty confident that I wouldnt have any problem with using them as standard flack armored guardsmen.
Thanks for the input!;Y
