just in case anyone cares, i worked out points and manpower for a IG battle force, thought id share it. I know, i have way to much time on my hands...

WAY too much time there. good job anyway though.
Way too many Baneblades I think. The fluff in IA1 (unless its changed, I only have the 3rd ed copy) says that an Imperial army would be lucky to have three, and more usually only one will be available. And an army is a sight bigger than a battle group.
Of course you could replace the "baneblade" category with "superheavies", which would include Second Generation Baneblades etc.
There again, fair play to you for going to the effort of working it out. Nice one.

In an ideal scenario you'd have 1~3 baneblades for every 4000 imperial guardsmen. So 16 baneblades for 39000 IG wouldn't be unheard. Given the Imperium's penchent for viewing guardsmen as an endless source of expendible labor, I think you wouldn't see that kind of ratio very often. Why give up a precious baneblade when an extra 10000 men are much easier to reproduce?
