Hello, I've managed to pick up a load of cadian plastic troopers but really want to field a grenadier army. Has anyone seen any conversions of Cadians to Storm Troopers? I imagine it could be done with a bit of green stuff to make the carapace but am not sure I fancy doing that on every squad . Was also thinking about some head swaps with pig iron ones or maybe Forge World respirators?
Forgeworld respirators would work I use them on my armoured fist. I think they would work well. It's the hellguns that will be tricky. I would probably wait until the plastic stormies come out.
It can be done but as said it is a little difficult. I converted my grenadiers fromcadians, the lasgun was the hardest part. Basically I used bits of plasticard to make extra armour on the upper legs, then i greenstuffed alittle in to the helmet to look like a slim line respirator, the guns simply have a powerpack stuck on the side and a heavy weapons sight on the top. A sort of FG42 look. Makes them bulkier but not too bulky. The powerpacks were saved from shotgun conversions btw!
For a picture ref go to my WIP blog on here (should be a link in my sig) they will be in that thread right at the beginning with close ups if I remember rightly!
hope that helps
Hellguns could be lasguns with guitar wire.
For the padding, you could, to make it easier on yourself, buy the tamiya jerry can set, it has loads of drums, comprising 2 curved bits. These could be easily cut up to make shin guards etc.
Got a "good" rumour from a GW staffer? Forget about it, LO'ers know more than any random GW shop staffer.
Voor alle nederlanders:
The Dutch Legion
I tried doing it with some bits of plasticard, didn't really float my boat. But it's an option.
Hi, this isnt really related to your post but where can i get the pig iron masks?
I'm impressed. As long as you dont have to do too many of them they shoudl be ok. I know howeasy it is to get bored part way through because of the tedium. nice use of the vox pack, considering I have bucket loads of them I may have to try something similar hmmm *rifles through various bits boxes with occaisional ooo and aaaahs*
Do you have a blog up in the project forum? If you dont I'd recommend one would like to see the whole army!
