Help understanding the rules for Vultures

Hey, I'm having some problems finding rules for Vulture gunships, can anyone help me?

I've got the full list of rules for them in Apocalypse, games, which is fine, but I don't necessarily want to take them only in Apocalypse (So for the remainder of the post, I'll be ignoring any rules in IA - Apocalypse)

This post is mainly about the confusion about Hellstrike Missiles.

I've got their entry in IA - 1 - Which implies they are exactly the same as HK missiles (see Marauder Bomber). Surely this can't be right? Why would Forgeworld print a unit that can have 6 HK missiles for X points, or 2 HK Missiles for X points, but rename the 2 HK missiles to Hellstrike Missiles, leaving everything else exactly the same.

I'm convinced I've read somewhere they are 2D6 armour penetration. This seems sensible...they're Hellstrike Missiles, but the tradeoff is that you carry less but gain 2D6 armour pen. Can anyone clarify this?

I know discussing rules is dodgy ground, but I'm really stumped, and would really appreciate any help.

Hellstrike rules are on pg. 222, under the entry for Lightning fighters. They are really just hunter-killer missiles with a different name. The entry in the Vulture rules is for mounting them as either sets of three, or sets of one; notice you pay three times as much to mount the triple HKs as you do for the single HS?

It's quite odd, but once you get past that it's not to hard too figure out.

In IA they're the same as Hellstrikes - and what more do you want? you can hammer off all six at the rear armour of a tank without giving away the oppertunity to be shot.

I have also heard that they're different in IA3 - The elysians where they,
    1) have a range limit and
    2) count as ordenance (affecting the armour pen rules)
I however have never clapped eyes on that particular ruling, and although it would be nice to have the vulture clarified as Heavy Support choice and the Valkerie being Transport capable (and it's capacity) i don't feel like the £ 55+ required.

    P.s. Isn't IA5 Vraks - that doesn't have it, i'm 99% sure

Can't find the referance in either book, do you have a page number?

You are correct, IA3 amends the rules on page 312 and states that HS missiles use ordenance rules for armor penetration, and limits their range.
