I don't have any actual play experience with demon hunters, I've just read through their codex. I was wondering what people thought about demon hammers, because from what I've read they don't seem worth it. On paper, they're amazing, it's a thunder hammer but slightly more expensive with the added benefit of going at I against demons.
My problem with the hammer is whether it's worth it to use on any of the demonhunters characters that would be able to us it. The first choice would be the Grandmaster, but then again, he comes standard with a nemisis force weapon, the only one that's actually a force weapon. So why would you want to pay a bunch more points on an already expensive model when he can already smack many things around in CC without the upgrade.
Then there's the brother-captain. His Nemisis isn't a force weapon, but it's still a S7 power weapon which is really rockin. At the same time, he only has 1 wound, and I would hesistate to kit out a brother-captain for CC, because that could easily be a lot of points down the drain very quickly.
The only model I can see a demonhammer making sense is on an inquisitor, but then you'd have a CC inquisitor, and as far as I can tell, that's just foolish.
Also, I realized while writing this that these arguements all apply to the annointed weapon too.
In short, the demon hammer and annointed weapon are all awesome, but not better than the free nemsis you get on the grandmaster.
The short answer is that the annointed weapon and daemonhammer were both built for inquisitors. While the daemonhammer can be useful on a GK in certain circumstances, the points just aren't worth it. You're talking another full Grey Knight in an army where you're already gonna be short-handed for what will, in the majority of cases, offer little benefit or actually harm you with it's low I.
Blais's Paint Studio-Getting broken armies good soft scores since 2009
That's what I expected, that those weapons are there to help inquisitors. But are CC inquisitors ever really worthwhile compared to their super cheap, shoot you to pieces squads?

Political language is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and to give an appearance of solidity to pure wind.
If you're intruiged by doctors who are also ninjas, then this is the webcomic for you!
Ah, you brought up something that had not occured to me, replacing the stormbolter. This whole time I was thinking that you were stuck with a ranged weapon, even though after reading your post I realize that I have seen/heard of GM builds with 2 CC weapons. I can in fact see the merits of wielding both a demon hammer and a nemisis force weapon, if only to be one terrifying badass of a GM.
Yeah whenever I take a GM anymore I have him with daemonhammer and NFW. Although I got one with psycannon aswell.

why have a thunder hammer when u can a tank thumping engine crippling chain fist
as for the brother captain wasting points, the grandmaster can instantly die which wud b more costly. i.e. u have more room to play with a brother captain than a grandmaster in points
are you kidding me! a daemonhammer is good let me point out that a inquisitor a lord preferably can strike iniative order now against daemons with a strength x weapon. tool him up to be sacred incense and a familiar and your mostly likely to always strike first, but your thinkin u wont instantly kill? well if you wound dont forget he wont strike back at all allowing you to strike first again next turn. acoyltes (read in book!) and various marvelous things can pretty much kill any daemon. corteaz owns! special character note dont bring any of what i just said if your not fighting daemons or chaos.
and as for the last comment well maybe the daemonhammer
Hey man, your posts are extremely difficult to parse. Some punctuation and capitalization would be extremely helpful, as would running through a 'spell-check' before you post . Just so you know, you can right-click on the little red underlined words in the post window and it'll suggest replacements for you.
Anyways, let me get to the point!
