Should I induct Imperial Guard to get some cannonfodder and some heavy weapons?
Or do you think I should get a dread and some stormtroopers?

Personally I'm planning on getting an IG Platoon with some Las and Autocannons for fire support and tank busting power. I'd imagine they're more durable, and it gives you a lot of flashlights to point at the enemies as well. Besides, if you decide to try out a Radical army you can use the models with that as well.
I guess it's a question of how many points you're using. I don't reckon a Dread is woth it in less than 1500 point games. They're firemagnets you know. IMHO IST's are simply meatshields with halogen flashlights.
Always do right. This will gratify some people and astonish the rest.
Many DH players seem to gravitate towards the inducted IG troopers and I don't blame them, they can truely add a bulk of firepower to your force.
But If you'd like to keep the army pure DH then stormies CAN do the job for you, they work great in almost any capacity, save perhaps CC.
I'v personally had great sucess with my Rhino mounted ST squads and my Dreads (Always have two).
i gotta go with the inducted IG
for one they make meatshields
and their heavy weapons are just wayyyy to usefull in DH armies just beacause they have anti-tank
in my bigger games i almost always add inducted guard its a nice way to use my extra points getting a huge meatshield with flashlights that fry things with enough focused on them
plus if you even want to go further having a leman russ is not a bad idea
i only ever played one game with an inducted leman russ and it survived all the way through killing 4 squads of orks
i say they are worth it
When cities burn and armies turn
and flee in disarray,
Cowards will cry 'tis best to fly
and fight another day,
But warriors know it in their marrow when they
die and fall,
It is better to have fought and lost than not have
fought at all.
the keeper of the stuff!
the knower of werty!
the master of the obvious!
You have a lot more options when you induct Guard than when you only use IST. IST's have what, four special weapon choices? Rhino/Chimera. Bah. The only really cool thing about them is that the Vet can take anything in the armoury.
1 Guard platoon can give you between 3-5 heavy weapons. 2 platoons let you take all sorts of big & nasty IG things. I hope to get me a Russ and a squad of Armageddon Sentinels soon.
The problem is that IG without there HQ there ld is pretty low. Its a standard 7. You dont benefit from close order drill because you can't get doctrines and if you don't spend the points you can not get a hero senior officer to get the standard banner so you can boost there ld to 9 and with a reroll.

Yeah, I agree with Orestes.
Also, another way of playing "Daemonhunters" is to actually play IG, but have DH allies. This is my personal method of playing a DH army. It allows you to have the best of both worlds. Doctrines for your guardsmen. If you take grenadiers as a doctrine, then you can even have 3 squads of stormtroopers as troops choices.
Don't I.G. squads still benefit from 12" command rule. I haven't seen the new codex yet...
I agree with Brother Malfunction. I intend to use my I.G. as a heavy weapons block. They're just there to provide the lascannons and autocannons and to soak up wounds to save my GK. 8|

even w/out the doctrines, the IG can still be fearsome if used effectively. just keep flashing those flashlights and use the leman russ. other than that, throw a squad or 2 into an assault if you don't want the enemy 2 charge you.

I dont know if this is a good idea or not, as i am a horrible noob, but has anyone considered taking a SM army then taking a bunch of GK units as elites? youd get grey knights and also some regular SM for numbers... would it work? thx a lot
