Ok I play Dark Angels and i have a detachment of Deathwing terminators. This question actually touches all terminators. I use my terminators mainly to deepstrike and i have hit a wall on how to equip them. Since i deepstrike range isnt really an issue so my question is wich is better for deepstriking terminators, Heavy flamer or assault cannon?
Assault cannon gets 3 shots @ str 6 but the Heavy flamer gets auto hit on any number of targets @ str 5...
I have been playing with one of each but i want to specialise my terminators either 2 H.Flamers or 2 assault cannons

What are your thoughts on this??

My toughts: Since you are deepstriking them, use some assault terminators. They get 4 attacks no the charge, with power weapons. Use one of each of your assault cannon and heavy flmaer to take some pot shots at the enemy before charging.

You could do the assault termies and take the assault cannon.

But if you are staying witht the normal termies you have then use the assault cannons. 6 shots at a longer range is a lot better. What if you are just outside the range for the flamer on the deep strike? Assault cannons have a chance missing but a lot better range and can pretty easily take out weak armor vehicles. Go with the assault cannons. Of course, that is just my opinion. Good luck with the choice.

I agree, go with assault cannons, HF are too short range

I'd go Heavy Flamers. They're half the cost, and you can beam in right next to the enemy. When not deep striking, I tend to walk my termies through woods. HF's are really amazing in forests and vs. bunkers/city fights. Depends on your play style, I suppose.

Terminators can always fire heavy weapons on the move..

Im not a big fan of deepstriking assault terminators. Too many points for them to just get shot since they can't assault on the turn they deep strike

If I was going to do deepstrike I'd put a teleport homer on a guy with a jump pack and teleport a squad with heavy firepower down when you get close to the enemy. Therefore you can rip them up in the firing phase and charge with the squad who had the teleport homer

Depends what you're up against, I say. Flamers will work wonders against the horde.

Then again, so would assault cannons. Personally, I'd take the flamers.

Ya all good points and i agree with Kirasu:
Im not a big fan of deepstriking assault terminators. Too many points for them to just get shot since they can't assault on the turn they deep strike
I just played with my cousin (Beil-tan Eldar) And used 2 heavy flamers.... i put a tele homer on my jump pack chaplain and man.... i raped a squad of dark reapers wich amazes me cause i never can kill those roket weilding spikey head bastards. I love the auto hit on the flamer its makes for a round less of rolling so technicly more chance to kill a enemy unit...

Does any of this make sence??
