I s*** you not guard players!
I've been down to Warhammer World for the 'Design Studio' Open Day and asked around about the new upcoming guard codex.
I was then shown a image of a 3D mock up for a Leman Russ Demolisher model but with it's demolisher cannon replaced by a single Vulcan Mega Bolter!
A Hellhound variant featuring a turret with a metlagun barrel the size of a Battle Cannon's main tip.
Now ain't that something to look forward to. Don't know about you but my guard are going mech!
Also the 'Leman Russ Squadron' rumor is apprantly false, GW design and rules development have made no thought in creating such a unit.
If it's true that they aren't doing the squadron I'm pretty angry with them. I've been waiting for YEARS for them to make Armoured Companies fully legal, and then this rumour comes allong and I'm in tears of joy. And now it might not be true? Who's with me at going to England and showing up at HQ with assault rifles :vampire:
As for the Leman Russ variant, I was hoping it would be a Vanquisher ~_~ I know everyone was gunning for the Exterminator, however with 5th edition rules it would kind of stink, since a Battle Cannon would be more effective (you can move and shoot regular ordnance, still (I hope)). But I'm not too sure how to take the concept of a Leman Russ with a Vulcan on it.

Well Squadrons would suck if they follow 4th edition squadron rules - staying within 4" of each other, firing at the same target, etc. The way I interpreted the 0-3 Leman Russes would be that that selection was 0-1. It allows the Guard to just have excessive HS choices, without necessarily letting them have 5 Leman Russes. I would be surprised if an "approved" Armoured Company came out again, as they just roll armies that don't have anything more than average anti-tank. It would be very hard to balance an AC, I guess. I would be perfectly happy with being allowed 3 Leman Russes, and say 2 Basilisks or whatever. It is very hard for me to go above 2000pts without having more HS choices anyways.
More to the point, A Vulcan Mega Bolter Russ (Leman Russ Vulcan?) and a hellhound with a very big multimelta (range 48, meltaness at 24? I can but dream) sounds very fun. With the rumoured changes to shooting from vehicles then I think we can expect a lot of focus on the single big guns.
The name refers to facial hair, not playing style.Originally Posted by A news vendor's stand, London, June 1940

I woulda loved to have a squad of leman russes on te battle field. i scatter ALOT with ordanance, and being able to "walk" my templates to my targets would be AWESOME
I would of loved to have anti tank tanks though.
did the pictures have strange sponsons on the tanks? sponson mounted heavy stubber anyone?

The mega bolter is my favourite titan weapon. I used one once in an apocalypse game and pointed it at a squad of marines. They got liquidated. Plus it looks cool. I hope this is true...
(So many new smilies I don't know which one to use).
I like more something like the "Stalin's organs", that fit more the idea of the massive Imperia Guard. But if they wanna go with a Daka mega-weapon tank, ok.
