I was thinking about building an a force built around IST in Chimera to secure a location near the enemy rear, and have a vet sergeant with a TP homer to DS terminators or FA GK, to get them quickly engaged. Any thoughts?
I already use this tactic, its a pretty common one to be honest. Been hit and miss for me, mainly because i view IST's as expendable.
It works better for securing mid field objectives. However it can backfire if you roll badly on your DS and your unit doesnt come on till turn 5/6 and your IST's have died due to not being backed up by your DS unit.
Ive had the same effect though i used SM scouts instead of ISTs. I thought "I know ill have 3 DS units so surly ill hit with one!". To cut a long story short 1 unit appered on turn 4, got shot to bits, same on turn 5 and ditto on turn 6. When it does work well though ..... baby! 20 GK and 6 GKT mwuhahaha! I actualy think I smelt those guardsmen s*&% their pants that day. Good memorys.
