No mattter what I try and no matter what I do I can't win games with the ladies. Here's my 1000pt list
2battle sister squads each with 4sisters 2w/meltaguns 1 veteran w/power weapon and bolt pistol and 1 priest w/rosarius and laspistol.
1 exorcist with storm bolter and hunter killer, 2 pentnent engines and 4retributors all w/heavy bolters and 1 veteran w/bolt pistol and power weapon
5celestians 2w/meltaguns and 1 veteran w/bolt pistol and power weapon
1 cannoness with jumpack, cloak of st. aspria, power weapon, and inferno pistol.
The only thing that ever works is the retributors and the cannoness. Please help I haven't won a single game since i started again and im seriously thinking about quitting again.
In the eyes of a bullet all are created equal *maniacal laughter*
you have little mobility and junk the meltaguns for flamers drop an engine and take a immulator. try that if you have it.
Are you sure you're only using 5 Sisters in each of your basic squads? Only the rules specify you have to have between 10 and 20 Sisters in a unit.
You're taking 2 Priests? A Priest is a massive waste of points regardless, but to take 2 when you only need 1 to get access to Arco-Flaggelants and Penitent Engines is throwing points away. Take 1 Priest, put him with the Celestians, and use the 60+ points you save to get more Celestians, an Imagifier or something else. Rather than a Rosarius, give him Power Armour and a Power Weapon, the Rosarius is useless as you have to put him with a squad so he wouldn't be able to make use of it, and he can lend the Sisters a little more combat punch.
More when I think of it but don't feel disheartened, I rarely win, and never convincingly, more due to not having the to buy my ideal army and my average-crap dice rolls tha any glaring flaws with my strategy. Keep going and just enjoy the game, as long as a good time was had by all then who won and who lost doesn't really matter all that much.
Sisters of Battle Record in 4th Edition

"They're Imperial Stormtroopers, and they're highly trained efficient killers!"
All my ideas are based on past experience playing mainly against Eldar (Biel-Tan) and IG which i have a success rate of 40-50%.
As Crimson mentioned you are not allowed to field a battle sisters squaq of only 5 models each. I would make it 2 minimum squads w/ heavy flamer and meltagun.
I would also drop the priest completely, as funny as they are in a 1,000 pts game there better things than the penitent engines for their cost.
On the exorcist i wouldn't put any upgrades, it's good as it is and shouldn't really need either storm bolter or the missile launcher. Storm bolter has only a limited range and the exorcist should be used on an anti-armour role to which there is no point firing the storm bolter. At their new cost, the HK missile is not really needed as with the new front armour Exorcist tend to live much longer.
the Retributor squad shouldn't need a V Superior as their number usually negate the Divine Guidance (of couse on such a good shooty squad the power weapon doesn't really fit).
Also, on 1,000 pts of Sisters i tend to go for manuverability and numbers: Celestians are good, of course but i prefer much better Seraphims either against infantry with their two flamers or against armour (just started equipping them with meltabombs).
The Canoness as good as it might be is not even close to other close combat force leaders and because of it i usually do not use any wargear besides the extremmely necessary. I would definately take of the jump pack (even if you take the Canoness with the Seraphims they will lose the Hit and Run ability which is a game winner against infantry) and probably also the cloack as for you to fail a 3+ save is very hard so if you die is because the opponent is using power weapons and so the cloack doesn't do a thing.
Overall just keep the force big in number and as flexible as possible, since Sisters do not excell a nothing in particular your force as to be prepared to do just well on any situation....
I'd go with max squads with veteran, hvy flamer and melta. I might even drop the special weapons to try out rapid firing divine guidance.Originally posted by Hugus@May 18 2004, 210
I would make it 2 minimum squads w/ heavy flamer and meltagun.
Except for the retributors, cram in as many veterans as possible for their faith
And over there we have the labyrinth guards.
One always lies, one always tells the truth, and one stabs people who ask tricky questions.
CBrate: To do with the Veterans in Retributor squads.
In the old list I would have 6 Sisters w/ 4 Heavy bolters in which i would then use to some success the Divine Guidance but now, since it changed the Acts of faith for the WH that is a combination that i no longer try to achive.
Since the average 2D6 roll gets a 7 to actually get some certanty of geting it you will need a Retributor Squad with 8 sisters, one of them a superior.
With 4 heavy bolters (my prefered retributors) that will add up to over 160 pts for just an effective of four heavy bolters. I now field the same 6 sisters with 4 heavy bolters at just 126 pts, IMHO the 34 pts could be better used that to the possibility of having a couple AP1 shots a game....
you shouldn't give up. Try low point cost battles first. They are much easier. I recently built an army list that was undefeated for 6 battles. Every time I won with it, I fealt terrible though. I meen, I really should have taken a casualty or something, maybe loose a vehicle. thats at 500 pts though. My army is still in shock from the rules change, so when I play larger games im not prepaired for I usually get wiped out. Its slowly changing as I build and paint different models.
Also, FAITH IS ABSOLUTE! have faith in your sisters, and you will do a lot better. Get in character and then it won't matter if you win or loose. You might even start rolling the dice better (some how confidence apears like it affects the dice rolls.)
