How do you all feel about the Light Infantry doctrine?
Personally I think it could be useful to infiltrate infantry in 5th Ed. to capture objectives early on in the game, then reinforce them with armour/heavy weapons platoons, using artillery support. I've not thought much about how the list would pan out...but it's an idea.

On the other hand, I have seen it used to good effect in conjunction wth the Jungle Fighters doctrine. A 4+ cover-saved infiltrating infantry platoon with lots of sniper rifles? Two please!
Now, despite the fact that I don't use this doctrine now - I have used it in the past. I found that by infiltrating alot of men, I could tie up a good deal of the enemy force; theoretically leaving the way clear for the rest of my force to move up and complete the classic "pincer movement". Of course, this doesn't always work in practice - especially when facing off against CC armies with high Ld - like some Eldar forces, SM, CSM, Crons, and some Nid forces. The sniper rifles just don't have the kill-factor and the enemy were just too high Ld to cause pinning. This got my men ripped up in CC before I could bring up support. Obviously this isn't a good way to win games!
My personal view on light infantry - go for it in a cityfight - no doubt! But, when it's just a regular 40k game, Close Order Drill, Hardened Fighters and Iron Discipline are your friends! Well my friends anyway...
I tend to lean more towards light Infantry myself. The ability to infiltrate and move through dense terrain a tad quicker on occasion appeals to me. I have used with a full platoon of 3 squads supported by a very Assualt friendly Platoon HQ and a Mortar Section. Using the GL's and HB's and placing my Infiltrating squads well ahead of my Platoon CP helped shield it till it could reach the Linebacker spot. Deploying in Cover is a must. It's always good though to have some reserves for the counter assualt role you will most certainly need them.
