pts cost: about 90-120pts or so.
Front armour: 11.
Side armour: 11.
Rear armour: 10.
Typekimmer, open topped.
Crew: Two Imperial guardsmenn. (one flies and the other shoots.)
Transport: the chopper may carry 12 Imperial guardsmenn.
Access points - 2: one on each side.
Easy to fly: when ending flight inside difficult terrain (or any terrain) roll 2d6 if you roll "snake eyes" the chopper crash's and burns!
Chopper blades: if engaged in close combat the chopper will go low to the ground and cut up the enemies with it's lethal blades, giving it 1d6 str9 attacks. however there's allways a risk of the chopper blade getting caught in an enemy so for each round of combat where the choppes kills something roll a d6 if a 1 the chopper goes down to the ground and becomes immobilised.
Targeter: the second pilot of the chopper the one w the gun) has a sort of targeting device fastened on the weapon he's shooting with giving him bs4.
The chopper's heavy bolter may be switched with the following. a Autocannon + 15pts, a heavy flamer +5pts.
The sides of the chopper may be equipped w the following weapons. Heavy bolter +10pts, autocannon +15pts. meaning you can have two autocannons or two heavy bolters. for each weapon you take on the sides one less guardsman can be transported.
the chopper may also be gicen additional equipment from the IG codex.
Fluff: In production will get that up later on today.
could this be an okay vehicle to add to the imp's line of vehicles?
Why don't you just use the vehicle design rules?
It might not have the option for you to use all the rules you mentioned but a simpler vehicle would also mean opponents would accept it easier, specially if the points value was taken from the VDR...
Guardsmen have a BS of 3
What doesn't kill you, cripples you for life
Whoever invented the Rubix Cube had a sick and twisted sense of humor
I will not eat oysters, i want my food dead, not sick, not wounded, dead.
yeah no one will buy BS3, leman russ vanquishers with "VETERAN" crew have BS3
Bs:4 is due to the man shooting the gun has to get extensive training and aiming the weapon. you'll se this when the fluff gets up. but does anyone here have some ideas regarding what changes should be made etc etc?
where are theese famous vehicle design rules?
I already made a "helicopter" for my Catachans. I figured that since they look like 'Nam era troops, then they had better have choppers. Here's the VDR rules that I whipped up for mine:
Transport: 12 Guardsmen
I also use a version of this with armor 10 all around. It only costs 87 points per chopper and since it's a skimmer, it's a little more difficult to destroy.
It's much more survivable than a Chimera, but doesn't pack quite as much firepower. However, if you really need to get some Ogryn with a Commissar and Priest into CC real fast, then this is your ticket. Since it's open topped, you can move and charge out of it, which is really nice.
i like the idea of a chopper for guardsmen but how did u make them? like what do u use a base model?

***** is the point of having a flame weapon on a chopper?
"It fits like clothes made out of wasps!"
There's that, and why is it more expensive than the autocannon? The thing has BS 4... how does it get that anyway?
Ze titles yez...

The vehicle Design Rules are in Chapter Approved 2003, if you really want BS4 for you won't probably like it as the rules state you use the ordinary army's stats.. WS BS S and so forth...
