I've just got given (AGAIN) 1500 points of marines from a friend, landraiders, dread and a bunch of marines some of them metal.
I'm assuming after having a look at the codex the metal models that don't belong in a squad already are champions or chaplains, but I wouldn't know and I want to have them all represented so if I had a game someone doesn't go "thats not a HQ, hes a regular marine" and then someone has to be punched
I recognize one as the emperors champion I believe.
And the rest of the "squad" I can't find any look a likes in the codex but they don't have weapons that would class them as a command squad exactly since most of them have fists or power weapons and the like, so are they just regular commanders? or a squad that I just didn't read the rules for?
And this guy isn't metal but that sword looks like it might belong to the champion, but its not a metal sword...
So if someone could clear this up and perhaps make me a nice HQ list or two it would be very useful!
So those guys are just like chosen chaos marines? and that IS the actual emporers champion.
But I can't find his entry in the dex? Is he from daemonhunters or some other ally?
The last one is under the Specialists section, bullet Company Champion on page 29 of the codex. Entry is for the Command Squad. Similar in principle to the Emperors champion but with less special rules.
All the others as stated are just special veteran models. I'd run the two without lightining claws that are complete as vet sergeants in your tactical squads. Likewise the power axe one if you can finish him off. It's funny that GW sells the vet models in a box but they aren't a valid squad (link).
Love the Emp Champ model. Great pose and design. Works well converted as a commander.
They are my bulwark against the Terror. They are the Defenders of Humanity. They are my SPESS MAHREENS!
So basically I can't use them... thats awesome! :o
I already have sargents in the squads I have set up, so they are no use there.
As long as the weapons match up with what the HQ unit has you're all set.
If you want a Chaplain with a pistol and crozius, cut off one of the chainswords and glue on something crozius-like, paint him black, and call him a Chaplain. You can make a Librarian by putting a real sword (or axe, or anything else) in place of the chainsword, paint the armour blue, and paint the sword some fancy force weapon colors.
If you paid the points for it, and the model meets WYSIWYG, no one can tell you it isn't what you say.
So basically my best bet is to just make 5 seperate HQs for different situations.
Which codex are you using?
You can have them altogether in the same squad, regardless.
Codex SM - Veteran Squad - you can give one member a power weapon (check) and the sergeant terminator honours meaning he can have a lighting claw (check). You then have two guys with BP and CCW and a guy you can give anything to - 5 man veteran squad.
Command Squad - you can make one a champion (check) one a veteran sergeant with lightning claw (check) two with bolt pistol and chainswords, and if you are feeling creative I don't think it'd be much of a challenge to make the guy at the top a standard bearer. - 5 Man command Squad.
Codex Dark Angels - Company Veterans - up to three members may take power weapons or fists, the rest can take BP and CCW - 5 man veteran squad
Command Squad - Only usable if you rip the lightning claw from that claw armed dude. For some reason DA HQ's can't take claws but veterans can - go figure.
Codex BA - as Codex DA except a veteran squad must have jump packs, drop pod or rhino. Command squad is the same as codex DA.
The 5 minis listed can all be used together in the same squad with minimal tweaking.
I can't say I've seen it all but I live for the things that keep me hollow.
Using regular old space marines dex. I don't own any others and I don't intend too... way too much work to sort out special rules.
