I was looking through my rule book just now and saw the reference area.. and knowing the new dex is coming thought this area will be atleast in tune with the new dex.. and i happened to see that chaplains have WS 4 and BS 4 now instead of WS 5 BS 5.... uh... WHY!?!?!?!?!..
And also it seems that captains will get a 4+ invul save now standard
Edit: AND IT SEEMS WE CAN NOW USE LEMAN RUSS TANKS TOO!!!! it says an exterminator patern.. im no IG player but whats that?.. BUT ITS SOUNDS SOOO COOL!!! OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG..lol

The dumming down of the chaplin is daft fluff wise but then I suppose with the rerolls on the charge it'll make little difference.
I bet the Leman Russ tank thing will be for space wolves only. Be nice to have them in a normal marine army though.
The Exterminator pattern Leman Russ is a tank used by the Space Wolves it's basicallly a more expensive version of the Russ but with BS4 and a twin linked autocannon on its turret instead of a battle cannon, it is an all out troop killer like the predator destructor or ball predator.
In total the exterminator can mount 3 heavy bolters a twin linked autocannon and has the option for a pintle storm bolter, watch out orks.
Also you wouldn't know about it even if you played guard because they only have access to the Battle and Demolisher patterns of the Leman Russ tank.

Part of the reason for easing back the Chaplain's stats were for game-balance purposes. The Captain is supposed to be the finest Warrior in the Chapter, not the priest. The priest is supposed to make everyone else around him a more effective fighter.
No one used Captains before, just Chaplains. Making the Chaplain weaker, in addition to making the Captain stronger and bestow effects on the whole army, will bring army composition more in-line with the fluff.
WHFB: Dwarfs || WH40k: Imperial Fists, Necrons || WM/H: Trollbloods || BFG: Necrons
supposedly with the 5th ed space marines, litanies of hate is gone. sadly, we get preferred enemy (which is conferred onto the squad) as a consolation prize. i will admit it, chaplains were a really great HQ choice; economical, effective. The captain was an endagered species, there was no real advantage to taking a captain over a chaplain aside from rites of battle.
If you look around forgeworld you should be able to find a chaplain dred....and with the rules it says it still has litanies of hate (sry spelling)... so my guess that it should still be around... but other than that losing it would really suck..... really bad
So i wont be able to take a leman russ?.. i didnt even know that space wolves get them........i wana a space wovles army now.......... lol... ok but yea you guys are getting lucky cuz iv herd there is alot of attention going into them this year.
And i actually just bought a captain recently but i bought it bcause of points wise and the way i like fielding my chaplain is way expensive... but now i think ima stick with him.....
any way standard marines will be able to use the leman russ?
With the current edition of codex, Litanies of Hate allows you to reroll hits on a charge, right?
Well, in 5th edition, Preferred Enemy allows you to always reroll your to hit rolls. So, if that rumor proves correct, it is better than the current codex.
Consolation prize indeed...
Emperor have mercy on those who stand against me, for I shall not.
wow, i didn't know that they changed preferred enemy. thanks for the info!
Preferred Enemy is so much better now.
It basically gives all your attacks (every round) mastercrafted rerolls (so there's no point in taking a master-crafted weapon on anyone in the Chaplain's squad).
Of course, it still may only be conferred on the charge, so we'll have to wait to verify.
