So here's the conundrum. DPs are tough MCs, very tough. What's more, you see them in games as low as 500 pts. So what's the most efficient way to take them down. Do you use lasguns, plasma, etc? It's not just about what you kill them, but how you allocate the points too. As I said, you see these guys in 500 pt games (as well as things like a Carnifex). They're stripped down, but still way tough.
10 men sniper squads would be useful since they can wound regardless of the toughness. Other wise you are going to need enough high strentgh (strg 5 or higer) guns in mass fire to force a lot of save throws. You can try the grey knights allies as well.
The guards was rob of the only weapon that was able to kill them easier, albeit it was a long shot but it was atleast a shot, the good ol force weapon that the pysker got. Now it is an instant kill weapon which is pretty much useless as every race HQ and MC's are immune to instant death.
Where the heck did all them guardsmen come from?
Great Wolf! Is that the howl of the 13th?
I'm more than a little miffed that they took that away from force weapons since it was the only redeeming factor of the sanctioned psyker. I love the models and I love the fluff but it's going to be hard to justify using them any more.
As for killing demon princes your looking at a few options. It seems like you want the best advice for killing them in games of 500 points. well, you're pretty much sol since thats barely enough to cover your standard FOC in a game that small. You're looking at only having to spend ~360 points on just the bare minimum not to mention that fact that you need to purchase equipment for those squads. A missile launcher in every squad is probably your best bet and then plasma wherever you can fit it. Guard armies just don't work at such low level games.
Now for bigger games you have a ton of options. my personal favorite being either vets kitted out with max plasma (even a pistol on the sgt) or anti-tank squads with lascannons and sharpshooters. You could also look into a squad of rough riders (if you can either stomach the models or have enough time to convert your own) or perhaps even looking into an inquisitor with a demon hammer (not as effective as a grey knights hero but so much more fun imo).
good luck man. Demon princes are one of the tougher units in the game. just don't let him talk you into believing that a rhino blocks line of site to a demon prince.

Lads. Come on. 140pts to get the bare minimum.
40pts, junior officer,
50pts, 5 grenadiers,
50pts, another 5 grenadiers
Minimum covered. Then give the 2-5 man squads 2 plasma each, 180
Giving you 320 to spend on other stuff.
Guard can easily work in 500pts. Using that system anyway.
Or. You wanna be really nasty? Last chancers. 500pts, gets you Schaeffer, Kage, 14 specialists with a motley assortment of up to 10pt weapons
Then take one with a grenade laucher and call him "Bob" for the cool effect and stick him with Kage and the good Colonel, then the rest are your pawns of destruction,, kitted with whatever the emperor wills them to have as they die.
And you always claim victory, as if they die they have either redeemed themselves in the emperors eyes and done their duty, or died as scum who were given a last chance.
Its NEVER a solid army, but is always funny and you can always depress your opponent. If you get 1st turn you will probably win actually.
Killing the Princes, or any Deamon Prince for that matter. Plasma is a good place to start, or meltaguns. Its something everyone struggles with at times.
I'd say just pound as much fine into them as humanly possible and pray for some mercy from the God-Emperor. There are a few other topics on the same thing by the way, looking them up might well help.

"I have dug my grave in this place and I will either triumph or I will die!" Reclusiarch Grimaldus
"Those I cannot crush with words I will crush with the Tanks of the Imperial Guard!" Lord Solar Macharius
"Hear Me Inquisitor Ordinary. Obey me. I am of the Malleus!" Inquisitor Jaq Draco
My experience in general is that Princes are very resilient to antitank weaponry but fall apart to massed small arms. Two turns of shooting should take him out, even with only lasguns. You may have to use some clever maneuvering in the second turn to pull it off, however.

Points wise, the cheapest way is a snipers squad.
2 words: ten ratlings.
Missile lauchers are good but they don't make enough wounds against the invulnerable save whereas you have better odds with ratlings against the armour save.
Imperial Guard: 3000 pts
Chaos Daemons: 1000 pts
there are 3 solutions, that i can think of.
1. my personal favorite, conscript rapidfire
2. cheap Inquisitor, with daemonhammer, familiar, a few acolytes to deal with instant death
3. The good Ol ratlings.
with the conscripts, you just have to get the range right, and you'll be good
the inquisitor is kinda hard to kit right and be cheap, but you can do it for around 150pts(maybe less)
and ratlings seem to be the most cost effective choice, but i like conscripts, because they soak up fire, no one can ignore a mass mob of guardsmen! XD
