With 5th edition making vehicles pretty hard to kill as they are, is there any longer a need to take extra armour? I use two chimeras and two russ's in my usual list and that costs me 20pts to equip all four with EA. Is this 20pts that could be spent elsewhere??
In my opinion it feel like Carapace armour, maybe you can use the points in H-K missiles or Pīntle mounted weapons but only in the chimeras.
My personal feelings on Extra Armor:
Turns Stunned Leman Russ into Shaken Leman Russ. Shaken Leman Russ still can't fire....but it can move!
In fact, it can move right into the side of that tank that stunned it in the first place...
I think it is still worth taking if you have the spare points, but maybe not as vital as it was.
As Zeewulf pointed out though, it does mean that in most cases (and in 50 percent of the times you suffer a glancing hit) you are still going to be able to move after taking a hit. And it would be fun to ram the beejesus out of an enemy tank after he's hit you!

Thanks for the replies.
I don't really move my tanks at all in a game, they are pretty much flank anchors, so I have probably answered my own question i.e. the points are better spent elsewhere......
