How many of you use Ogryns?
What is te best tactic for fielding them? (mounted?)
what is their best target for slapping up?
Well, hide them and use them for a counter charge is what I do, them and Rough riders are the main close combat squads, them and the officers.
Are Ogryns worth putting in chimeras? Since they can no longer claim objectives, I'm not sure, but on the other hand, Ogryn seem like one of the best units for counter-charging regular troops, and a chimera would make them more versatile and resistent to enemy fire.
Rough riders also intrigue me. They're definitely better against monstrous creatures, terminators, and such (assuming you give them hunting lances), but they're only really good for a single round of combat.
The other problem is each of these units take up a doctrine slot. I'd have to give up two doctrines to use them both in the same army.
Are they really worth it? Should I use one over the other, or make room for both?
"Any job worth doing, is worth doing with a powerklaw."
claim objectives no, contest yes thou?
and it beats moving the infantry
Dont take both
ogryns are better against enemies with a 3+ save or worse
rough riders are better against high initiative units(no higher than initiative 5 or else they suck) or against enemies that have very good armor(2+.......sometimes 3+ if they are a nasty squad, like deathwatch, or enemy grey knights)
ogryn work pretty well against anything with a 4+ save, and do well against 3+ saves
the only problems with ogryns are their toughness(getting insta killed by meq is not cool) and the bone eads lack of access to the armory(i want a ogryn powerfist!!!!!!!!!!)
Hellhounds are good tanks

Anyway, I find that ogryns aren't worth the cost. There strong but are really soft and die a little too easy.
For the same cost, I get some grey knights. Faster, shootier, has a power weapon, access to a few cool guns, better WS and armour, fearless....you get the picture.
