Well first of all, if you're interested in the Grey Knights I suggest you buy the Daemonhunters codex. All of the rules for allying Grey Knights to other armies (such as Space Marines, Imperial Guard, and Witch Hunters) can be found inside, as well as the rules for inducting units into a DH army, and of course there are the rules for the units themselves.
It is indeed possible to include Grey Knights with Space Marines, but only if the Space Marines are the parent list. If Space Marines are inducted in a DH army, you cannot take Grey Knights; funny how it works huh?
As far as models go, I suppose you could try to convert some regular Marines; give them some cool weapons, convert up some Storm Bolters, and paint them up nicely as Grey Knights, but in all honesty it would probably be just as expensive if not more so to convert all of them. It's difficult to play this game without dishing out some heavy cash, so if you want Grey Knights I'd suggest you just buckle down and buy them; they are fantastic models, so it should be okay!
Bottom line - buy the codex, it should answer your army-related questions. If you have any questions after giving that a good read-through or two, then feel free to ask! We're here to help.
okay thank you,
i guess i should have mentionted it, i already have the codex but i just didt get the rule about sm in my dh army.
another question: if i take gk termi's should i then give them their storm bolter and nemesis force weapon or should i give them a thunder hammer and storm shield??
thanks in advance
Really, it's all about balance. Most things that the GKT's come up against, their Nemesis Force Weapons will be more than adequate being the S6 power weapons that they are, but there will be a couple times where something a bit harder hitting may be needed. In normal SM Terminators, people tend to go a 3 Lightning Claws to 2 Thunder Hammers ratio, but for GKT's I'd say that a squad of 5 should have no more than two Thunder Hammers, and I'd even go so far as to say you'll be okay with only one. The NFW is just too powerful to really replace with too many Thunder Hammers, IMO.Originally Posted by innaedokwan
As for converting im sure i saw somewhere you can cut the side gas masks to make a cone like front face, and you can cut the thunder hammer off and stick a sword on the end. obviously its more complicated than that and req's a few peices quite valuable. I'll get the link tomorow sorry.
taking gkt with all th/ss would make no sense imo they'd just be equivalent to normal ones, therefore i too strongly suggest a high ratio of NFW/ss to TH/ss.
Anyway welcome to the world titan good luck with your Daemonhunting force, may the emeperor be with you.
I'm not sure about gk's becoming plastics but i would strongly advise it to GW seen as transport costs more with metal.
note ill edit grama tomorrow afternoon
I might write like a ork but i fight like a poet.
Some one tell me they have ever seen a nightbringer die from a Nemesis Force Weapon.
