I got a friend playing IG and want to beat him badly......so could i get some tips on how to defeat him ????
There are a number of ways that sisters can beet guardsmen. Sisters are the equipment and the skills to either outshoot, or out fight imperial guard. Just as long as your strategy involves you getting within 12", and being able to destroy tanks with ease, you should be fine.
Saraphim, and tooled up elite units really shine here though. Its a lot of fun to have your Canoness with jump pack in close combat with guardsmen, and clearing out her entire kill zone each round. Makes it feal like your deploying a Chaos Lord.
MELTA BOMBS! every one who can have them should, or else you will regret it.
I advise that if you do try to get nothing but huge blocks of infantry, then prepare for a very very difficult aproach. You should use Rhinos and immolators to get your army within range of his. Once your there you just need to be able to manage large blocks of troops better than your aponent.
First off, you have to take out the IG players tanks before you go charging across the field of battle. This is because their tanks can blast huge chunks of sisters off of the table with big templates of death. You want to avoid that as much as possible.
I suggest inducting either IG or SM's. This is because you will probably need the improved firepower that they can provide.
The IG inductee's will be able to provide lascannon armed Sentinels and Leman Russ Battle Tanks.
The SM's can provide a whole host of firepower in the form of Predators, Razorbacks, Lascannon armed Tactical Squads, Dreadnaughts, Land Raiders, Land Speeders.
Second, You need to charge across the battlefield, jump out of your repressor's and use those bolters to chop IG squads down by the handfuls. Bolters penetrate their basic flak armor like nothing. The repressors can also burninate huge chunks of IG off of the table.
At the same time, you should charge a couple of immolators across the field and pump them with flamer fire. This should take more huge chunks of them off of the table.
In a nutshell: Get rid of the tanks and then get all of your flamers into their battle lines. Flamers and Heavy Flamers will wipe out guardsmen by the hundreds.
My experience is based on my games against one IG opponent that does not use any vehicles up to 1,500 pts and there he only has 3 Sentinels. Yes, no tanks, but on the other hand a 1,000 pts army of his include about 9 missile launchers and 12 heavy bolters and believe you me that against an infantry based army he really doesn't need any tanks.
So, moving on to the helping bit. Against the ammassed guardsmen your best ever unitr will always be the Seraphim. Cover their approach to the enemy, when you get close enough (playing by the BBB rules) flame a unit and charge another, you must have at least 1 flamer and preferably 2 per seraphim squad. Once in combat the Seraphims should be ok for both yours and your opponent's cc turns which by the end of it you should use the loving Hit and Run ability and on your turn start it all over again.
Seraphims are also a good thing against armour as you can equip them with melta bombs and they have the mobility to get almost every armour on the table. Also on that point i tend to keep my Battle Sisters Squads versatile and by that keeping a heavy flamer and meltagun on each one just for the occasion that either a tank gets too close or you manage to get close to it.
Although on paper a 6 girl squad with 4 meltaguns on an Immolator does look goog I have to tell you that is my exeperience that the Immolator usually does not last the game (my longest EVER performance by my Immolator was when it was immobilised on second turn about 10" away from any enemy models).
Hope this helped but in case you're still not sure about it just ley us know about what your opponent ussualy field and we'll be able to help you better....
OK here is the problem:
Given the new(ish) IG codex allows, thorough a mix of troop types and doctrines, Ig to field about 4 distinct major army types, which can be blended into various combined types, and then further flavoured, an IG army can be pretty much anything, so giving you stratergies to defeat them will produce mamouth and undreadable posts.
You need to elaborate on what he uses and then you can get specific tactics.
You could also have a look at Sister Mel's tactical treaste on SoB, admittedly it is pre the current codex but alot of its generic content remains true
Everything you have been told is a lie!
He usually field lots of troops and some big tanks(Basilisk or Leman russ). He uses the Cadia doctrines..............
Although the IG can field a variety of different types of armies, there's still one thing that they definitely fear: Flame Templates. I would use many many flame templates against any IG player that I face, and the WH army is just LOADED with flamer weapons.
If he fields a Basilisk then with a squad of Seraphims with melta bombs should be able to take care of it quite easily (last night a squad of 9 Seraphims took down 1 Wave Searpent, 1 Fire Prism and killed 10 Banshees; these last two were killed by a lonely Seraphim).
If he fields a Leman Russ my advice would be to a certain degree tp ignore it and get into close combat as soon as possible covering your assault by blocking his line of sight and using the Acts of Faith (inv save).
Against infantry just read my post above and yes, hourglass is right, load on flamers, myself have 2 heavy flamers (1 per battle sisters squad) and 2 flamers per seraphim squad.
