So I picked up 40K again, after a 20 year break in from GW. Mostly i'm into hobbyist stuff, but being an adult etc can afford to buy an army and for my sins picked the Sisters. Am relearning to paint and such at the moment.
So anyway, got a bunch of models that should form a base of an army, what am I missing / whats not good?
2 * Boxed Sisters Squad
+2 * Sisters w/ Meltas'
(-2 sisters w/ Stormbolters)
1 * Boxed Seraphim Squad
(-1 bundled Sister Superior)
+1 Sister Superior w/ Bolter / Sword
+1 Flamer Seraphim
+1 Saint (converting to seraphim canoness)
+1 Canoness (should I attach her to something?)
+2 Imagifiers (not sure what to do with these, just liked the models)
You need 2 Rhinos.
Even though the "run" rule helps sisters, the essence of the Sisters game is concentration of close-in fire support, which can't happen very well without the enhancement of Rhinos.
Imagifiers don't return their cost in most opinions.
(There is no "Cannoness Seraphim". Just a Seraphim Vet, who counts as having a free imagifer, btw).
Overall, you're off to an excellent start.
Convert the Stormbolters to Heavy Flamers.
Standard loadout of a 10 girl squad = 1 melta + 1 Heavy flamer.
EDIT- PS: Must read the St John Sticky thread above. It is just as relevant in 5th as it was in 4th.
Thanks for the pointers, this is what i'm working towards:
1 Canoness w/ Book, Cloak, Jump Pack, Blessed Weapon, Bolt Pistol (using Celestine as the base for this model)
3 Mounted Sister Squads, w/ Heavy Flamer & Melta, VSS + Bolter & Book, Smoke (Can juggle weapons around here for more specialised tank hunting squads)
1 * 7 girl Seraphim unit with VSS+Eviscerator, Book, Flamer & Melta Comes in at just under 1000 points.
Guess i'll be buying and painting rhinos next month
There are a few things with witchhunters:
Stormbolters and Multimelta's should be changed to Melta's and or flamers, these are much more effective.
SoB can have one of the best HQ's: jump pack, inferno pistol, cloak, blessed weapon.
Sisters should be in rhino's.
Now, these are the cookiecutter rules, so ignore them if you want (obviously).
Got a "good" rumour from a GW staffer? Forget about it, LO'ers know more than any random GW shop staffer.

Personally, I do not like mixing Meltas and Flamers. When you have only one Melta in a squad, it always feels like it is under-performing, while multiple flamers are quite powerful in Fifth Edition. I would recommend specialising your squads to Heavy Flamer/Flamer and Melta/Melta. On paper, Melta weapons look great against infantry, but they are much better against vehicles where one hit can potentially be all it takes; against infantry, a 50% chance of a single kill is nowhere near as good as an excellent chance of two or three kills. Meanwhile, the Flamers are nigh-useless against a vehicle. I tried splitting so I could handle any situation, but I found that most of the time my squads underperformed in all situations; they feel far more effective now that I specialise. With the Seraphim, in particular, if you are taking a larger squad, go dual Flamer; if you want them to tank-hunt, take less of them (it is too costly a unit to risk).
Good advice all thanks
Had already planned on switching the heavy weapons per sisters squads based on the opponent - it's not in my mind too big a cheese to have a girl carrying a melta or a heavy flamer depending The points wont change much by juggling either.
Will keep the Seraphim squad focussed on flamers, rather than meltas - can have a regular drive by sister squad geared for tank killing I guess.
My first canoness will be solo, with a jump pack and perform a similar role to the seraphim (but not attached).
Looks like I have 20 some points left over after 3 Mechanized Sister Squads + Seraphim team - add some grenades or laud hailers somewhere?
Remember that ICs are valid targets now - anyone mauled by a Canoness before will make her a high-priority target!
