Obviously with the advent of 5th Edition Kill Points have become something every Guard commander needs to think about. I'm interesting in hearing how many Kill Points my fellow Guard players field in competitive lists.
Please answer the poll based on a 1500 list.
Also remember when working out your Kill points that Command Squads are worth 2KP each.
I'll start the ball rolling, I have 17KP in my current list. This is quite a big drop from my 4th Ed Guard list which would have had around 23. I ended up dropping my single model Sentinel units, a Special Weapon team and now have one Infantry Platoon rather than two so I can take one less command squad.
Also what experience have you guys had playing 5th Ed Kill Point games? I've only played one and it wasn't pretty but that was with a very poor list (Kill point wise).
that is the one thing i hate about 5th edtion, Kill Points
it really is not fair for us gaurd players, saying that were supposed to keep our men alive...............
some units must be sacrificed for victory, and now they are saying that if we do that we will lose.
Hellhounds are good tanks
Satan - "**** you Kage! And **** you Jables! I'll get you Tenacious DDDDdddddddeeeeee!!!!!!"
Yeah, we get more scoring units, but then with the next marine codex they can get almost as many as we do, without having to sacrifice anything in KP games. I hope we get something to compensate.
I got to counting up to 25 and then I realized that I didn't include the sentinels so that would be 28 instead. So that means that I have to really focus on wiping out my oponent so that I can auto win. Up and at em trooper!!!!
Where the heck did all them guardsmen come from?
Great Wolf! Is that the howl of the 13th?
I like to think that there will be something in the new codex that will still let us get around this horrible disadvantage. While at the same time still let us field massive amount of troops who are ment to die.
Well I think that having more kill points isn't necessarily a disadvantage. It still means we outnumber the opponent like crazy. I'd rather take on 7 KPs of MEQs than 27 GEQs.
I think you need to spend more time on your floor.
2500 Black Templars
It would be nice if the platoons had some sort of modified coherency where they had normal coherency by squad, and maybe like a 6" or 8" coherency with other units. Then they'd be like one big unit, similar to Orks, retain the individual squad mentality of the old dex.
Well, advisors don't count as IC's do they?
So I don't have to worry about my HQ with a commissar and a SPsyker being a 4 KP nugget sitting out there for an opponent.
I did a small 1000 point game of Objectives the other day against some Thousand Sons. It was a little disturbing that I overwhelmingly won the game by Objectives, but if we had been playing KP, he would have won 6 to 1.
