Hi all. I was tweaking my list the other day, and realised that I had enough points for another sentinel. However, I was disappointed at the 4 weapon choices.
I thought, "Geez, wouldn't it be nice to have say 2 weapons on a sentinel? Perhaps just twin-link the one we have??" I mean, look at it. Our walker is the lightest armed and armoured. I know that they make up for this with the insane cheapness, but jeez, just for once, I'd like for my walker to go toe to toe with somebody elses. Even Killa Kanz are better than the sentinel.
So, instead of just ranting on about how poor our little walker is, I have decided to do something about it.
I would like to see in the next guard codex...
1. Either Twin-Linked weapons or 2 weapons choices
2. More weapons. Personnally I would like to see the option for the mounting of the Heavy Bolter and Missile Launcher.
3. Front armor of 11!!! Yay!!!!
4. A small points increase to cover all this. (10-20pts)
So, who would like to see changes??? I see no negatives about making the sentinel a little bit more powerful and useful.
On a side note, I think that forge world have some sentinels like this, but I would like to see them in the new codex, when it is released.

In the guard, there is a theme of lots of crap troops being prevalent over a few elite troops. I say we leave warwalkers and dreadnoughts to eldar and marines. So 2 weapons and increased points is pretty much out.
Heavy Bolter, Multimelta etc variants are available, just not officially (look at the Imperial Armour series for them).
Front armour 11 wouldn't really fit the nature of the vehicle (it would still be a walking coffin anyway).

Infiltration, outflanking and droop troop, Sentinels are fine. I never liked twin-linked, because is costly for a weak vehicle.
But I like more weapons like: 5 points Heavy Sttuber, 10 points Heavy Bolter, 15 points Missile Launcher, 10 points mortar, 20 points multi-melta or 25 points Plasma.
If we talk about an improved version of the sentinel, it need more armor, can have twin-linked heavy weapons and be an elite unit, with veteran pilots and of course, cant be a squadron of vehicles. Most likely open-toped, with out a CCW, because GM cant allow us to have a better stuff than the Walker of the SMs.
mortar who are you kidding a mortar would be a huge waist of points on a sentinel bye a mortar support squad and be done with it.
but heavy bolters would be nice (officialy) also i would like to see plasma cannonsbut that might be wishfull thinking.
Heavy Bolter, Multi-Melta, Missile Launcher,a nd Multi Rocket Pod Sentinel variants exist.
They're in Imperial Armor III. Those are Elysian options for Sents. As such they are legal, if you're opponent allows forgeworld (and where I play most do)
If you win games against Nids with flamers (aside from the Inferno Cannon on a Hellhound), you're playing against opponents with stupidity of impressive magnitude.
I think sentinels are perfect the way they are, they allow you to have a mobile heavy weapon (which is amazing in the IG) and they can seem invincible.
If you run an army of lets say 2 or 3 russes a chimera or 2 and 2 sentinels, opponents rarley are able to kill the sentinels because they are so busy stoping the chimeras from transporting, and stoping the russes from killing them. combine this with all the pressure you should be putting on your opponents anti tank and your av 10 vehicle can start to feel like a land raider.
I just wish they would of brought out a box full of 3 sentinels for about 50$ I would love to use more sentinels but i just can afford to spend 25-30$ for such a low amount of points.

In all honesty, I've fallen in love with the Sentinel. I was in the same boat, of wanting to throw some cooler stuff on 'em, till I realized the Imperial Armour Sentinels existed, and now I've just about completed my Recon Company: gotta purchase 2 more sentinels and 3 forgeworld support ones, and build the one cadian pattern I have sitting around...I've got 7 built right now just waiting to be put into a full company!
sentinels are pretty sweet and the autocannon is my favorite weapon on them. Along with an HK missile and outflanking/deep striking they will tear through most tanks.
I would like to see a heavy bolter one made official in our codex, in fact all of the forgeworld ones would be cool.
I'm converting a model of the Aliens walker (the one ripley killed the queen in) into a sentinel/pentinent engine thing, so far its going alright.
THat's gotta be sweet, you should show a picture....
HK missiles, I forget about putting those on my sentinels.....It would be scary to have an outflanking squadron of setinels come walking on and fire HK missiles into the nearest tank!
i have a 80pt shortfall in my gaud so roll in 2 heavy flamer sentinels (cheap and painfully cheerfull) people ignor them antil there in combat with there shooty squads (who canot kill them) and the sentinels just chew them up one by one.
