I'm adding a small 'firing support' Black Templars squad into my army, meant to cover my Assault Squads with Bolter fire while they cut things to ribbons. I'm going to add one heavy weapon into the team and I was thinking -- Lascannon or Multi-melta?
This is mainly anti-Necron and it's for a low-points army list so I probably won't have to worry about tank killing. (Read: Monolith killing.)
Oh, and please don't tell me to drop the Bolters in favour of Bolt pistols and CCWs. I already have that covered with other squads.

I would take a Lascannon because of the comparison. Both weapons cancel all armor saves, and both have high Strength (Well, the Lascannon is a bit higher). The Lascannon has an advantage in range, though, which turns the tide. The Multi-Melta would be good at blowing up vehicles, but you'd have to get them within 12" of you, which is not a great idea. Plus, your assault squads should have at least one power fist to help the Lascannon take out vehicles.
Henceforth no man shall set foot upon the world, and all around shall be set sentinals to ward away unwary spacecraft. We must accept that this place is lost to us forever, and is now the eternal habitation of abomination.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'>another annoying thing i hate: 47,000 similies in one post. just thoght id throw that in there and see if anybody else hates it as much as i do.</div>
well, id go for lascannon due to the fact its range is just a sh*tload better
Never judge someone until you've walked a mile in their shoes...by that time they'll be a mile away, and have no shoes
If it's for anti-necron, the Monolith's Living Metal ability removes the extra dice that you'd roll with a multimelta. So take the lascannons for range.
