To be perfectly honest, if you don't want another cadian army, then go for catachan. It's just not worth it to buy a metal guard army unless you're really looking forward to spending $600.

You don't have to use catachan doctrines.

I would probaly go with tallarn because of plain coolness factor.Plus they are supported by forge world which includes sweet rough riders
If Slaanesh is the god of the Perverse, why does Nurgle have all the filth?

If your using the models as the actual regiments then bear in mind tallern are suppose to be guerilla warfare, so no tanks. Lots of rough riders, heavy weapons platoons and maybe the odd sentinel. While mordians use close order drill and iron discipline, some of the best and most flexible doctrines.

However if your just using them for the models (and don't mind spending that much $ for a guard army) then just go with whichever you think looks coolest. I think tallern would be easier to convert and are supported by forgeworld (even more expensive) but mordian will give you a very professional, albeit overdressed, looking gunline.

And i think catachan is the easiest to convert, I have a full tanith army (last I counted about 4000+ pts of just tanith, i.e. no tanks or sentinels or anything) made almost entirely out of catachan minis with cloaks added on. You don't have to use jungle fighters you can use them as any normal guard army, be if standard or light infantry (although carapace is out of the question)

Or you could commit time travel. Tallarn WAS the site of the biggest tank battle in Imperial history wasnt it? Or was that somewhere else?

After all, the tank reigns supreme in desert warfare.

Elysians do look amazing, you are right there.
The name refers to facial hair, not playing style.
