I was wondering if anyone as tried to use Inquisitor retinues like havocs . I mean I was think'n about it and for 135 pts you can have a inquisitor(basicaly a host for theRetinue) and 2 gun servys with multimeltas and one with a huge freakin PLASMA CANNON !
Now times that by three and you have some awsome fire power. Hell, it's even cheaper if you switch the meltas for HB's ( I prefer the tank killing power though of the meltas).
that comes too, lets say, like 400 points and could decimate troops, along with blow'n the hell out of any stray vehicles. hey and you could take a step further and givem all transports creating major threats.
This along with 2 50-point ST squads( to max on cumpulsory troops) and aproximatley 1000 points of termies and GK all deepstriking with melta boms and pur troop killing power and I'd say you have a formidable army... whadaya say
Could it work... If anything it would be really fun.
Yeah, this is a tried and true tactic. If I remember correctly you can throw Sages in there too, and always hit with that Plasma Cannon.

Wait, you mean that optimism isn't fashionable anymore?!

Soup's up, bitches!
Yup, common tactic.
In my 1500 Daemonhunters army, I field two units of:
Inquisitor (psycannon, targeter, auspex)
Plasma Cannon Servitor
And in bigger games, I add in 2 heavy bolter servitors to each unit. It's the closest thing pure-DH has to Devestators/Havocs, and in my opinion, works pretty much the same.
The shooty Inquisitor is certainly the bomb when it comes to dealing out plasma death (I prefer 2 IG veterans with plasma guns and a plasma cannon servitor), but I wouldn't compare the unit to Havocs or Devastators, since it's so fragile; you have T3 all around and mostly 4+ saves. Especially considering that screening seems to be gone in 4th Edition, cover is a must, and hard cover is necessary if you expect to survive serious return fire for more than a couple turns.
The cool thing is, this Inq. and retinue is so cheap that it's not necessarily a bad thing to have your enemy trying to kill them, since it lets the bulk of your army get to grips without being blasted to tiny pieces (especially if you're using GKs as Troops).
can some one tell me where I can find all these new assault rules and 4th edition rules cuz I don't know how you guys are getting this stuff. I mean, all I've heard is stuff like " there will be better rapid fire rules" and " it will be a faster paced game". none of which is in detail.
Deamonscourge, do you think you could tell me where to find some of this because I feel like the only one who doesn't know what the new assault or any other new rules are.
My knowledge of the TAR/TVR comes out of Chapter Approved 2003. White Dwarf probably has more up-to-date versions of them monthly.
No problem! Go to the GW Website (www.games-workshop.com, enter either the US or UK site) and find the news section. There is now a free downloadable PDF that explains most (though not all) of the rules changes for 4th Ed. in detail.
Edit: The TAR and the TVR are also available in the Warhammer 40,000 section of the site, under Chapter Approved I believe.
