So, for a footslogging black templar army, what allies from Deamonhunters and Witch Hunters could you viably induct? I think Grey Knights are v. cool, and I constantly hear good things about seraphim, so what units and unit loadouts would be good?
Also, how does the whole allying thing work? Do you have to ally in a certain force org chart selection, and is there a limit as to how many selections you can choose?
Well I'm not familiar with the seraphim, but the GK are great, they provide my guard with a bit of extra punch. I know you are interested in help for your BT but, its the same principle since my guard aren't exactly highly mobile nor good at cc, so GK can really help. There are limitations on how many allies from each section of the FOC you can take, and you will have to look at the DH or WH codex to find it. If I remember correctly you can only take one hq, one elite, two troops, and one fast attack (at least from the DH dex). So to help your sitaution out, a squad of Deepstriking GK taken as fast attack can really help take on some of those pesky HW teams that can make footslogging a chore.
As far as the number and loadout, I would run 10 men since you can only have one squad that DS, and equip them however you see fit. Personally I find and incenerator to be particularly handy since those HW teams always seem to be in cover, and can be quite useful for frying anything Sv 4 or less that is in cover. Psycannons can be useful too, but I have enough high strength weapons, so I prefer the incerator especially with the always present cover saves in 5th edition. 2 Incererators, plus 8 storm bolters on the DS can be quite nasty. Just don't drop em where they will get torn to shreds, because at that close of range, the shrouding doesn't help too much, so pick your targets wisely.
