This seems to be my biggest problem. It also slows the game down alot. Is there a fast way to count how many dice to roll or what? I am really sloooooowwwww when it comes to this part of the game.
Not sure what you mean.
You're saying, you see a squad of 10 marines, and you don't know how many dice to roll?
Rome wasn't built in a day, Either should good scenery.
If you mean like on your own shooting, I have written on my army list exactly what weapons each unit has, so I don't have to even look at the board, bar making sure I have range. Then its a matter of knowing the rules for the weapons (aka Rapid Fire, assault, heavy, whatnot)
If you mean taking saves, just take the number of saves the unit has to take and divide it by the number of models in the squad. Allocate the decimal (remainder) wounds to one of the bolter marines over a special weapon guy.
eg: My termagants inflict 17 wounds on your 8 marines (1 has a Meltagun, 1 is a Sergeant). Divide 17 by 8 (which is 2 and a remainder of 1). Now each marine has to take 2 saves. That remainder 1 save can go anywhere.
Of course, you can pretty much just look at your saves you need to take (2 on Meltagun, 2 on Sergeant, and the rest on Bolter Marines) and do all your bolters at once to save time. Then each special seperately. It comes fast after a little while.
There are all sort of clever tricks you can do, such as allocating multiple wounds that would ignore armor onto a single model, etc.
If you have a different question, post it up and I will respond or PM me.
I find you save more marines if you roll for each guy separately. For instance with your 17 wounds. Lets say you fail eight saves on the bolter marines. If you rolled them all at once, you lose all of the bolter marines. If you rolled each marine's wounds separately, maybe you failed each saving throw on only four marines (2 each) and made them all on the other four, thus losing only four marines.
I guess I am aasking more so about CC. Like you have the Vet Sgt, a 10 man squad, a charge, etc...
What is an easy way to add up the total dice fast? Right now I am basicly putting a D6 in a line of 10, 5, 8, whatever the squad size is, and putting more D6 next to them, going in order of CCW, charge, normal attack etc.
While some people I play are like, you have 22 dice...while I am still counting.
e.g. As previous example, you roll 2 for the sarge, 2 for the melta and then 13 saves on the 6x remaining boltgun marines. if you fail 5 boltgun marines remove 5 of them. (if you fail 7 it doesn't spill over to the sarge or melta if they saved.

That seems long and drawn out when it's actually written out in detail, but it goes like this in your head:
Ok, 9 guys, 2 each is 18, 4 on the sarge, 22 total. Quick and simple.
Thanks for the clear up!
Back on topic, the others are correct. Eventually, with enough games under your belt, you will be able to do the math in your head. Until then, keep doing it your way and don't worry about how long it takes. Cheers and happy gaming.
Thank you guys for the help, esp wraith. I guess it will have to come in time like wolf said. You all feel free to keep talking about the wound allocations, it is good reading. Thanks again all.
