    Assault on Black Reach help!

Hi, I have decided i want to do a 1000pt Space Marine Army not sure what chapter yet. I'm going to use the contents of Ass on Black Reach as well as the terminator from the white dwarf. I was just wondering what else i could include to make this a strong army list?

"I did my first model at the age of 7"

Wow. When I first read that I misinterpreted it. Bad.

Well, wait and see what the new marine codex holds before making a decision of which chapter. You will at least need another troops choice, so another tactical squad couldnt hurt (will hurt the enemy anyway). Maybe throw in a predator or two and some rhinos for a bit of speedyness. Not sure how many points are in black reach, or what things will cost in new marine codex.

If you are not bothered for the 5 scouts, I believe the battleforce is a good deal. With AoBR and the battleforce, you should have 1000 points army core.
Try to sell the Orks and with the money buy a Devastators box.

It's quite cheap to do too.

According to an article in White Dwarf the AoBR marines can be made into a 585 point list. I agree with the above comments. A battle force and some devastators would be excellent. I am not such a fan of the predator because our SM tanks have soft armor (11 on the side??).
Once a Marine, always a Marine.

yeah, but your captain or company master can be as cheap as 100-125 points up to 200 pts depeding on how you deck him out. Reclic blades, digital lasers, assault grenade launcher or combi weapon etc.

Oh, and it is disgustingly good. The characters are all very good, but which one will depend on your playing style & budget.

(I was very surprised - Shrieke can infiltrate with terminators, and give them furious assault. But still doesn't have a iron halo. Doh!)

The Boxed sets are fantastic, I'd save up for one if i was you. A devastators box, mixed with a tactical marine squad would be good. (And you could convert the dread's multi melta to a plasma cannon easily if you wanted to - 12" more range anti infantry blast vs Vehicle Death?)

(As a Dark Angels Full company owner I am utterly gutted on just how vile the New Marines are.)

i bought a battlebox set a while ago (one of those 'bundle' sales from a website) and ive managed to gather up 1500 pts with a couple other models i had lying around. it came with two Tactical Squads, a Land Speeder, Land Raider, a squad of five Terminators, a Devastator Squad, and a Whirlwind. i havent built/painted the devastators yet but i always find myself saying "damn i wish i had those devastators in this game!" (and yet, i still find myself putting them off for last ) in my opinion, nothing beats having that firepower in an army. terminators are a little iffy for me... some games they win their points back, some games they dont... so i just left them out of my army list for the time being (those guys are expensive!)

me and a friend are both buying the assault on black reach set (he wants it for the cool rulebook) i want it because i am in need of a scatter dice and some plastic templates and a 5th edition rulebook. i use space marines and he uses eldar so i am keeping my space marines and he is giving his to me for my ork's he will sell the ork's to get his money back while i have gained over 100 points of marines more dice templates and even a rulebook all for £30 (im get in it cheaper than gw) so i think this is a great set and combined with the space marine battle force is a good army which you can customize to you liking.

If you want to expand after buying AOBR.. i'd say buy another AOBR. Then add specialist troops.
