when i first started buying guard about a year ago i bought a bunch of snipers, enough for a squad of 7 or 8, cadian, vostroyan, catachan.. i dont like the look of ratlings but i cant really use these other snipers for anything else, so my question is would people in a game or tournament care if i 'proxied' the other snipers as a ratling squad? i can imagine at least a couple of people who might whine and complain about it.
you know the cadian snipers, how one is crouching with his hood off.
the only problem some ppl have with proxying snipers with ratlings is the height difference, but me and my friends found out that the cadian sniper who is crouching with his hood off is the same size of a ratling
besides most ppl dont care if u proxy ratlings with snipers anyway

With TLoS, people might be a bit tetchy because they're a different size... but personally, I wouldn't mind, and I've run into a few armies at GW tournies (under 4th gen rules) that did this, so it at least used to be perfectly legitamate 'Counts As', so long as you didn't then have the same kind of models used in a Sniper Special Weapons squad. But, that may have changed since the new rules...

FABRICATI DIEM, PVNC
Due to concerns about TLOS, I have pretty much been told that only the kneeling and prone models will be allowed to be proxied at an upcoming RTT.
Some folks take it a bit more serious than others.
I think mostly they are worried about complaints at the RTT because there are going to be a lot of questions for clarification about 5th ed rules.
Once folks get used to 5th ed, I think most of the complaints will die away.
But it was a big enough hassle that I decided to just go with my Inq/Vin combo instead.
