I am designing a Compat Patrol army at the moment and am just checking to make sure that for the captain he doesn't come with any weapons so even if you wanted him to have a normal weapon like a bolt pistol you would have to add that points cost to his value shown correct? I know you have to add the value for power weapons, storm bolters etc but a bolt pistol just seems like it shouldn't cost anything for a commander. Correct me if i am wrong, just want to clear this up.
in 5th he costs more though, so its not like your getting it for free.. combat patrol is a lot harder to get a marine hq into now..
Arch Overfiend & Grand Despot
I currently play:
Doom Eagle Space Marines
Hive Fleet Omega Tyranids
Goff Ork Boyz(dead)
Tau of O'me
Inquisitorial Xeno Hunters
and my attempted foray into fantasy
'Dark Angel Green' Dark Elves in need of fluff
5th edition marine captain comes with the following:
Power Armour, Chainsword, Bolt Pistol, frag & kraks, Iron Halo.
weapon Upgrades are :
boltgun, storm bolter, combi-flamer/melta/plasma, storm shield, power sword, lightning claw, plasma pistol, power fist, relic blade, thunder hammer
jump pack, marine bike, artificer armour, termie armour, auxilery grenade launcher, helfire rounds, digital weapons and melta bombs are all other random options you can take =)
Naturally all upgrades range from free to 40points, so choice wisely!

Great. Thaks for that. I will post my current combat patrol army soon, not finished yet and any advice would be welcomed.
I thought you couldn't have a model with more than 2 wounds in Combat Patrol...

correct. No 2+ saves, no models over 2 wounds etc etc
meaning that in 5th ed with the new marine codex you can only use a librarian or a chaplain as your hq choice. Out of the two the librarian will probably end up being the most expensive but most fun in my opinion, whereas the chaplain comes tooled up nicely for his points cost (invulnerable save and power weapon as standard), but still isn't exactly cheap.
Never judge someone until you've walked a mile in their shoes...by that time they'll be a mile away, and have no shoes
That is why i decided to eclude him in my list after reviewing the rules.
It seems your using alot of 4th edition stuff in that list.Alot of the things are cheaper in points or more expensive.Which codex are you using for the list.
