    immolator template placement?

Where do you place the flame template for the immolator? Do you place it on the gun barrel and cover your own vehicle or at the base of the hull portion of the model?

I may be wrong, but i am pretty certain it comes from the gun, any model without a base is measured from the weapon it is firing, and so I assume templates follow the same ruling. If someone else could clarify this I would be grateful, as I am interested too.

Here is the trouble I am having if measured from the gun; the template would inflict a hit on the firing vehicle. Or the vehicle would only be able to shoot from the side and never head on. I would really appreciate some help here and thanks in advance for the help!

Not sure if 5th ed addresses this particular problem.
I need to spend a lot of time with that book.

For now, I'd ask the opponent if he'll allow an inch or two clearance from the muzzle.
I'd do what he says on that.
However, if he tries to make you roll for damage on your own vehicle, I'd laugh out loud.

Rules can be one thing, but this would be simply beyond ridiculous. I would just look at such person with disbelief till they realized their own mistake
