Are Armoured Fist Squad any good ? Is it worth building a army with only Armoured Fist Squads ?
you can't have only AFS check the codex
Hmm what you are essentially talking about is a mechanised army, problem with these is that the main strength of alot of IG armies, tanks and Basilisks asside, is their sheer volume of fire power and number of troops giving it a capacity to handle taking casualties, but once you mechanise, you loose half your troops for some chimera, not the most effective thing in the world.
That said it is possible to play well with these things, it is just easier to get good results without using a mechanised force
Everything you have been told is a lie!
The mechinzed army is a pretty cool army. The flaw is that yes you wont have as many bodies on the table as any normal guard would have. The good news is that you have pretty much the same fire power. The key is to keep your chimeras alive because we all know there not the most armored thing in the world.

chimeras are a funny thing. when i first saw them i was shocked at their high price. 100 points for a freakin' transport! but then i realized that they're more like light tanks... and 100 points for one isn't that bad...
however they're no russ. and AV12 is nice, but against anti-armor weapons, your in trouble. the key to using chimeras is to have other armor.
is your oppoent going to spend his lascannons taking out your chimera, or you russ?
target saturations. armor works better in numbers. an army with just one russ is going to loose it very very quickly, because every lascannon is going to home in on it.
