I am thinking of changing my Veterans from pistol and ccw to bolter. If I have some extra points was thinking of giving them sarissa's as well. Occasionally the sisters can't avoid close combat and the fact that at least my vet can reroll wounds seems worth the few points invested.
From a wounding point of view, it would be better to give your vet sister an eviscerator. It ignores saves and hits at double strength. Re-rolling a wound may not get you much more, unless you had a whole sqad of sarissas. Wouldn't it be nice if you could give all your celestians sarissas? Anyway, might be a nice thing to have if you had some points to get rid of, but other than that, I'd throw up spirit of the martyr and wait for seraphim/canoness support.
the problem with sarissas though is that they only work on the turn that your sisters charge, given the option id definately rather use that bolter to try to moe down whatevers coming at them, and even if you do charge instead youll only have a slight cc edge on one model for one round, best to put that 5 points elsewhere imho
btw good suggestion asharoth id love to have sarissa wielding celestians, might actually make me take them...perhaps an idea for the new codex in 4-5 years aye
It's a dead piece of wargear, simply because you can never charge if you fired your bolters.
Save the points toward an offensive vehicle upgrade such as a Hunter-Killer Missile, or upgrade a Rhino to Immo, or Blessed Ammo or some such.
