Does a model with Cloak of St. Aspira get a 2+ invulnerable save when it uses the Sprit of the Martyr Faith Act?
When a model is equipped with the Cloak of St. Aspira, it gains +1 to it's armor save. So a Canoness with a 3+ save will gain a 2+.
However, Spirit of the Martyr will grant the model/unit using it an invulnerable save equal to its UNMODIFIED armor save. The way I've been playing it, the Canoness with a Cloak has her armor save modified by that wargear item and therefore would only get a 3+ invul from SotM. However, I recently played a guy who told me that when it says "unmodified" in SotM's entry, it was referring to the way wargear items like the old Ork Choppa could decrease an armor save. Thus a Caononess with a Cloak would get a 2+ invulnerable save!
Am I right, or have I been cheating myself?
The codex actually says that the model gains an invulnerable save equal to it's normal armour save.
Note: It says nothing about a modified armour save.
Therefore the cloak increases the models armour save by 1 to a 2+ which is a normal armor save.
By this interpretation, the cloak would therefore give the canoness a 2++ save.
Orkses is never beaten in battle. If we win we win, if we die we die so it don't count as beat. If we runs for it we don't die neither, so we can always come back for anuvver go, see!
Yep, you get both a 2+ armor and a 2+ invul save. Quite nice.
lol i just had a canoness go 3 turns of CC against a squad of ork Boyz dishing out 60 attacks plus 4 from a power claw and she passed all saves thanks to her 2+ invul. finally on the last turn she failed SotM and was killed.
Suffer not the heretic. That's right, I'm looking at you Astartes Librarians.
Cloak of St Aspira doesn't modify the 3+ armour save. It removes and replaces it with a 2+ just as though you bought Artificer armour.
And over there we have the labyrinth guards.
One always lies, one always tells the truth, and one stabs people who ask tricky questions.
it does actualy modify the save:
Cloak Of St.Aspira
A magnificent cloak of velvet and fur, blessed in the Ecclesiarchal Palace of Terra to ward away the blows of the Emporers enemies. The Cloak of St.Aspira adds 1 to a model's Armour save, so an Adepta Soroitas Heroine in power armour wearing the cloak will have an armour save of 2+.
But yes u do make the invulenrable save 2+.
