Hey guys, I need some cool sounding names for my Black templar vehicles. My knowledge of latin is very bad (Femina is the last thing I remember) and I find using those 5 names on the transfer sheet a little lame.
One of the greatest things in 40k and sci-fi in general is that names could be anything, and as cool sounding as you want. Skynexex, Stecjro and Kolgaw are just random examples. Use your imagination, or google for sci-fi name generators
There was a Marine Name Gen on GW, think it was the Dark Angels part, still good for all marines, lets see if I can find it...

i use this list for checking up cool sounding latin stuff, kind of a dictionary i guess.
Latin word list
ive also previously used this index of names of angels, can always find some cool stuff there.
other than that, greek gods/mythic persons always work.
just to give you some suggestions ill throw out the names of squads etc in my force:
Chaplain - Lacrimas - tears (chapter name is tears of the emperor)
Terminator Squad Atlas (Greek Name)
Dreadnought - Baraqiel (Angel Name)
Dreadnought - Saul
Tactical - Cruentus (latin; to make bloody)
Tactical - Gladius (latin; sword (pw squad))
Tactical - Chronos (latin; time (2nd edition models))
Scouts - Sordesco (latin; to become dirty)
Assault Squad Ikaros - (Greek Name)
well there is some examples atleast, im sure you will find lots and lots of cool squadnames or names for vehicles in that latin word list, i definitely recommend it.
You know what, that is pretty impressive there sim! I like your way far more than mine - yours has meaning and character!
Now all i have to do is find words that best represent my army squads/units and the odd character i have named.
I like using battleship-style names for vehicles. For example, my Black Templars rhino is named Resolve, and the BT upgrade sprue provided a nice scroll section on the front hull to paint the name. When the new LRC model comes out, I'll be picking one up and naming it something like Defiance, Endurance, or maybe I'll just rip off the Hornblower series and name it Indefatigable, and add a new Marshall named Horatio to my force.
I was thinking "medieval" cities:
Or perhaps names for castles, such as:
Got a "good" rumour from a GW staffer? Forget about it, LO'ers know more than any random GW shop staffer.
Voor alle nederlanders:
The Dutch Legion
as for my guys i use a mix between old high german and latin, i got this idea after reading about Arminius, who was educated by Romans, but still a barbarian at heart.
I named my 3 LRC after the friendly slogan of the BTs: "No Pity", "No Remorse", and "No Fear".
That being said, my rhinos are named like the ships in Black Library works, and names that try to exemplify the BTs methodologies in my mind. Resolve, Fury, Zeal, etc all work well, especially if you add an adjective in front of it (Infinite Resolve, Righteous Fury, etc).
