I see quite a few people are adding targeters to their Justicars etc.
What is the use of this? (so far as I understand, all it allows you to do is measure a dist. to a target - what application can that have?)
please enlighten me...
Well technically, you aren't allowed to measure the distances to shoot a unit until you've already committed that unit to shooting at that specific target. So if you end up being out of range of the chosen target, your squad's fire is wasted that round. Targeters let you measure before committing.
I don't bother with them unless it's a long range squad (psycannons, inquisitor firebases). My GK spend very little time over 24" away from at least one enemy. And IST's come with targeters.
There worth it in purgation squads but apart from that i dont see the point in them, though they are useful for Inquisitor retunites (warrior henchman come with them)
Not to mention the fact that they are über cheap.
They are very usefull indeed
