I'm thinkng of including two units of Terminators in my army. Im a little afraid to spend that many points on only 10 models that have limited mobility. A second turn assualt by drop pod or landraider would be nice, but it seems that they'd get shot to pieces (even if you shield them with a cheaper unit or vehicle) or the enemey would just avoid them after that. In your experience are they worth the points or do they fall short? How do you equip them? Reg Termies or assualt?
i have unit of regular termies but assault termies with storm shields are harsh a 3+ inv on top of th 2+ saves of doom those plasmas will never hurt you again!
10 in anything under 2000pts is a little to much of a point sink in my oppinion but a unit of 5 is fine in 1000+...
just my thoughts

If someone helps you REP them...
5 Assault Termies are nasty. What kind of army are you aiming for? This will help us out in this case.
"Well... that hurt" - Vampire Jon Skellan (Mannfred's right hand man) after being beaten up, falling down an underground waterfall and being impaled by a stalactite.
Aiming for a semi balanced list that leans towards fast units and assualt. I still want a few shooty units to thin out orc and tyranid hordes.
with that concept, assault termies in a redeemer.
Most Notable Achievements:
Killed a Revenant Titan in one shot.
Killed 900 pts worth of Blood Angels in 2 turns while only loosing 4 pts.
cyclone mlaunchers are amazing right now, a 5 man unit with a cyclone should be able to lay down decent fire to support your faster units.
in my experience terminators typically die just like anyother marines, by this i mean to the same kinds of weapons, units, etc. and while they may make back their points, i think that 250ish points is better spent else where 90% of the time.
wouldn't agree with that, 2+armor/3+ inv save unit is a terrifying sight for you opponent (I've seen 5 assault Terminators - all with a thunder hammer and storm shield) take out a Daemon Prince and Greater Daemon in 2 turns (Prince and Daemon charged them BTW) with only one lost Terminator.
Remember Demolishers in 4 th edition? Don't have to worry about them anymore
Yup, the assault termies have been split nicely now, Lightning Claws if you not expecting heavy power weapon/MC resistance so you can rely on armour and do maximum damage and Thunder Hammers/Storm Shields if you are. I spent ages trying to figure out how to stop Banshee's with my marines and now I finally have the ideal solution
They are now in my opinion the finest unit for dealing with an elite enemy close combat unit if your can't stop them with shooting in the entire list.
"ask not the Eldar a question, for he will give you three answers, all of which are true and terrifying to know"
i am a big termi fan,
in most of my army lists with SM i include a big unit of them.
in my new tournament army (1500 points) i have a squad of 9 termi's!! (YAY)
and they are the only ones who NEVER dissapointed me in a single battle.
not like my darned lascannons, (4 lascannon shots at your rhino! Result: Immobilised )
in the new codex i would deffinitly go for a Assault squad with (guess what!) Thunder hammers and storm schields.
these 3+ invurnable save is just to sweet.
Termies are a fire magnet make no mistake. That can work to your advantage though, large squads can preoccupy an enemy for an entire game while your main force does "the business". Often opponents realise too late that they concentrated on the wrong squad. Small 5 man squads aren't useless but get dwarfed in larger games often swatted like a big juicy fly. Better keep these small squads for small games.
