So I am looking to start 1k space marines, what does everyone think of using
2x Predators, Autocannons, Heavy Bolter Sponsons.
I think this would be nice fire support. leave the anti-tank to my marines and bikers, what do you think? I don't think you can beat 3 armors at under 255 points.
Not bad if you're going for anti-infantry/light vehicle. Auto-cannons shine when it comes to that role so great choice if that's your goal.
I'd take at least one twin linked lascannon though. I think you'll find it to come in handy when you least expect it. Like when your tactical squads are caught up in cc later in the game and can't fire their heavy weapons.
Just some thoughts.
How about 4 armors for 250 points?
2 Autocannon/Heavy Bolter Predators and 2 Heavy Bolter Razorbacks.
How are you getting those Razorbacks? Cause they aren't heavy support. First of all, you can only have three heavy support choices. Second, the SM codex doesn't even allow Razorbacks to be taken in heavy support, right? You can't buy them without attaching them to a unit, because they don't take up a force organization slot. Taking 6 Razorbacks w/twin-linked heavy bolters for 240 points and not having them take up any force organization space is just plain dirty IMO. I don't think GW meant it to be that way, did they?
My Razorbacks are going to have Laz cannons, I am going to have my troops be anti-tank and my tanks be anti-troop. I want 2-3 squads of marines with Laz razorbacks and using missle launchers themselves. I was just trying to look at a good anti-troop and flexable force.
He can spend 5 points less and have 4 armored vehicles running around instead of 3.
And the separate Razors can shoot at different targets if he needs to.
More versatile in my opinion and Razorbacks have the exact same armor profile as a Whirlwind.
Whirlwinds are too expensive in the new codex IMO.
In my experience, as soon as you put Lascannons on your Razors, people go "Oh crap, that thing's a threat to all my armor. Better blow it up first." With Heavy Bolters, you can lull your opponent into a false sense of security.
My Heavy Bolter Razorbacks are usually the last vehicles blown up since the people around here don't see them as a direct threat.

Thanks for clearing that up. Sounds like a good idea, too. The Razorbacks provide a solid anti-infantry choice, while the preds can focus on light to medium vehicles and any tactical squads Cheetah takes can go after the heavies.Fits right in with the current load outs the Razorbacks and Predators have now. I say go with it and see how it works for you.I am going to have my troops be anti-tank and my tanks be anti-troop.
Well I love the space marine armor. My tank hunting is going to be 3x (Squads of 1) skimmers with multimeltas. Thoes are a major threat. I want 2x-3x Tac squads and 1-2 scout squads.
with anti-troop Razorbacks, what are the T-L Assault Cannons and T-L Heavy Flamers like?
