Hey all Killa-can here
i have several quick question on the space marine heresy, what space marine legion has greys as thier pre-heresy colour and do i have to remove the chest egles and stuff,
they are surposed to be a choas legion before the heresy, and thats why i am asking!
The Word Bearers wore Grey armour before the Heresy, and Death Guard were not painted at all, preferring the raw, drab look of bare Ceramite and Steel. Light greys and such would work well for them.
And of course, there are the two unknown Legions...
In any case, while the fluff says that only the Emperor's Children got to wear the Aquila, You don't necessarily have to remove it from all your men - if you feel you can manage it without mutilating your models then go ahead, but if not then feel free to leave them be.
And Space Wolves wore grey pre-heresy. I mean, more grey and less blue than they are now.

actually, the Word Bearers worshipped Chaos Undivided prior to when Horus spat on his oaths. the Word Bearers were the first to declare loyalty to Horus, but kept it secret from the Emperor of Mankind, so they could ambush the marshalling Ultramarines.
go with the Word Bearers if you want a chaos legion from before the Horus Heresy.
The Luna Wolves who are now the Black Legion wore a whitish/grey armor, everyone forgets about them, and that was Horus' legion >.<
yes i hered about the luna wolves the other day... oh and boomer is ment as in chaos legion before they felt the taint of choas
